So I am just learning how to use blender and am trying to make swords for my studios game. I spent probably around an hour on it and this is how it turned out;
How can I improve on this in the future? And how does it look?

Looks nice! What’s the sword based on? Overall looks nice, but here are some things you can improve…
Use shade smooth (with auto smooth) instead of using a lot of vertices
The handle looks a bit odd and unproportionate.
Overall good job!
Pretty good, pretty good, I agree with SilentSuprion with the handle looking odd, try making it thinner?
Se ve muy bien hecha poco a poco vas mejorando.
Ok, I have some feedback about this. Mostly agree with SilentSuprion, but to expand on that more-
On it being low-poly:
It would be best if 1 mesh object, with texture maps for color and material and hard/soft edges to separate the parts. Low poly modeling is a different process than CSG/ primitives modeling- Try starting with a cube and extrude/loop cut.
The idea of low-poly-ness is not just about total poly count, it’s about what details you choose to spend your polygon budget on. Making small spheres and cylinders look rounder is almost never it.
On it being a sword:
Never seen a real or fictional sword with a spherical guard like that. It is sort of what makes this sword’s design stand out from any other random sword but you probably don’t see that because would be ineffective at deflecting another sword except into your wrist.
On it being your first:
Great work, keep it up!
The spherical guard looks a little odd. The guard should probably be altered a bit - still keeping the same general shape. Thinking logically, the hand would be more likely slip onto the hand causing injuries due to the guard being spherical, hence why I think it should be altered a bit.
Besides that
I’d say it looks good, especially for your first sword. Good job
