My friend, A0X_STRIKE, and I worked on a parkour game. I made the scripts, Gui and animations while he made all the builds. We just released the game and it’s still a work in progress, but we would like to see what you think of the parkour itself.
Now this game is for pc only for the time being and will become mobile and xbox friendly in the near future. I’m looking mostly criticism on the game’s builds, Gui, animations and even if there are bugs. There are currently 20 stages in the game so far. Here’s the game’s link: Deadly Parkour Of Madness
I definitely like the idea you’ve gone for making this, but there’s quite a few issues you could iron out. I’ll list them below.
First of all, I have no idea why a really depressing remix of the Minecraft song is being played - this doesn’t seem fitting to me at all. It’s a parkour game so why isn’t the music more exciting or dramatic?
The stage spawns don’t work when you die, but they work when you leave and rejoin.
There’s no tutorials or guides; initially I had no idea the sprint or the double jump was a thing. You could include some form of UI to tell players about this.
The first jump in the double jump seems pretty pointless; for all of these stages I’ve just had to spam double jump and face no difficulty.
The animations are quite buggy - especially the run animation, where you can stand still and your legs will still be moving.
The cliffs are quite unappealing - they’re all 1 colour, have no detail and look quite repetitive. I think I can see other levels over the cliffs and they too feature the exact same cliffs; I’d advise against that because that’s just too much of the same cliffs copy and pasted over and over again.
I think it has potential - I’d mainly suggest working on the maps more to make them more appealing and atmospheric. As well as on the aesthetics of the map, I’d suggest changing the stages to feel better whilst using the parkour mechanics. Since it’s quite hard to control yourself whilst sprinting and in a double jump, you could make platforms wider to make it easier. The faster players can go, the more they’ll enjoy it.
Thanks for the long and detailed comment. I will tell my friend about what you have said and I’ll also work on fixing the animations. I’m also surprised that you took the time to type that.
