Feedback on my GFX

Hello there! I recently made a GFX because I was mainly bored. Here is the GFX:

It’s not really my best GFX but I mean, I’ve been doing GFX’s for 4 months now…

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

im literally so tired rn so excuse the bullet points lol. here are some things you could improve on:

  • don’t use similar colours for the background. → try to get something that contrasts nicely. it’ll make the character stand out more. colour is everything when it comes to gfx design!! pay attention to it!! read articles on colour theory!!

  • your render is looking a bit dead and flat. → switch up your lighting. use more than just a hdr. it doesn’t hurt to add a few spotlights or emission planes off-scene. you could try to increase the glossiness of the character too if you want. there’s also an opportunity to add different coloured lights here too.

  • the pose is not dynamic enough → try to make the character asymmetrical. if one arm is down, move the other slightly up. if the head is looking up, bring the torso lower. you’ll have a much more interesting pose this way.

  • cover up cleverly → you’ve created a blob under the character which doesn’t quite look nice. instead of doing that, try covering stuff up using text, vector icons, swirls, etc!! you don’t need to add too much, just make sure the viewers of your gfx aren’t looking at a solid colour.

  • make the text interesting → use a more stylised font and maybe add gradient/textures to it. currently, it’s a bit of a mess. it will really benefit your art as a whole if you practice typography before learning how to render. as long as the text is flashy and detailed, the rest of the gfx will look just as good. also ur text isnt centered for some reason…

  • don’t use plain backgrounds!! → try to give different opacities to your elements, implement different shapes and add some gradient colour. look at gfxs by well-known artists. they don’t often have a solid background colour. even if they do, it’s usually hidden behind various other shapes and objects.

  • the character needs to be the biggest thing on the page for gfxs like these → self explanatory. you need to direct all the viewer’s attention to the character. that’s what makes a gfx, a gfx!! the avatar needs to stand out just as much, if not more than everything else in the art. you can do this by enlarging the image and adding drop shadows/thicker outlines.
