Feedback on my GUI

Hello, I currently made this GUI for my tycoon game and I’d like to hear your feedback

Thanks!

It looks pretty simple, which is great for the kind of game it looks like you’re creating. Does your game have a ‘how to play’ function yet or an explanation of what the buttons do? Even some of the most easy to understand GUIs can be misinterpreted by newer or younger players.

I might make a tutorial once the game is actually done and when I am in the polishing stage

It looks good. But all of it is WAY too small. All of the GUIs should be at least double their current size in the picture. Otherwise, nice job on this!

Asides from all the suggestions that have been made, I think you could really squeeze out your UI’s potential if you made the colors a bit more vibrant. From what I can see, your map is quite cartoony and colorful, but in contrast, the UI is mostly neutral and de-saturated colors. Try picking a few saturated and “fun” colors and you’ll see that it ties everything together perfectly!

Because the text is white, the colors cannot be vibrant. If the colors were vibrant the text would be barely visible and have poor contrast.

That’s why I said to add vibrance and saturation and not just switch up the luminance (as you probably did in the first picture). Take for example these cartoony GUIs with saturated colors contrasting with white:

The icons aren’t as opaque or as light, instead, they lean toward the saturated top-right corner of the color wheel, and due to their strong values, they look good in contrast to white (except for colors with “weak” values such as cyan or yellow, which you can lean more towards blue/orange respectively, or add elements such as strokes or shadows to make it pop out).

And if you want to check the contrast of your colors, here’s a great site I recommend, hopefully it is of help if you haven’t used it yet!

how is this?
