Feedback on my high poly Pumpkin Autumn Home

Greetings devfourm,
I have recently built this build and I am looking for feedback of it because I spent a lot of time and effort and hoping that any mistakes I can improve in the near future as my next build will be even more realistic and better than this one.

⊆ build info:
time taken, around an hour
inspiration, mostly from google from searching up french homes.

it doesn’t look all that high poly. everything is good except the field has no foliage or bumps or anything like that, the leaves on trees aren’t ORANGE. there are mushrooms there for some reason, and the house is too blocky. everythhing of the house is blocky.

I think you can add more detail to your build, like IceTheOneAndOnly said. You can make the house more detailed by making the doors and windows more realistic. It would also be good if you pay attention to proportions. But anyway, I think it looks good and I like the atmosphere of your building. It looks very autumnal.

Hi -
I’m not sure if you know the difference between, high poly, low poly & Mid-Poly but let me explain.

Low Poly = No Textures at all, (all plastic / smooth plastic.)
Mid Poly = Some textures, but mostly all smooth textures (plastic, smooth plastic)
High poly = Textures

Which In my build there was nothing but high-poly’ness.
Though I do understand where you are coming from, the trees were just a random pick & the only ones I had at the time.
The house is infact blocky because when I saw the picture of the inspiration , it was literally a square lol.
Plus this is my first build since 2 -3 months ago :eyes:

Anyways, I’m very grateful and appreciative of the feedback.

i thought high poly meant high polygons, which means more complex shapes.

Great environment.

Personally I would consider this mid poly, for a build to be high poly you need to add more details and maybe some custom textures.

You did a great job for one hour :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

You forgot one, also a UI Designer… :smile_cat: :100:

Doing that right now, for you I’ll send the file over too! :+1: :100:

It is pretty low poly but if you are a beginner I do encourage that you keep on going as the possibilities are endless as long as you keep the drive to learn

While it looks nice altogether, the level of detail on the pumpkins and mushrooms isn’t really carried over to the house - particularly when you look at the windows and doors. It’d be worth adding more life-like features to these areas like a properly shaped door handle, rather than what just looks like a flat part.

The windows could use some extra depth to them. For example:

This window I found actually looks like it’s built into the house, rather than just placed on the wall, and it has shutters and flowers which make it look more interesting and appealing. Adding little things like this will help a lot.

It’s also worth mentioning that polygon count has nothing to do with textures - it refers to the number of polygons in a model or an object. If you’re purposely aiming for a high polygon count then it’d definitely be worth refining the blockier areas to achieve better realism. So far this definitely has potential.

Looks pretty nice! Though, I agree with a lot of people here. The house is not very high-poly, and very blocky. A lot more details can be added. But overall, it’s a nice simple build with a nice fall vibe.

Rather impressive! Few things I noticed though:

  • The mushrooms in the front look really circular and made in Studio, they clash with the trees and the colours a bit vibrant;
  • The logs laying in front of the house look the exact same and could use some variation in size & rotation;
  • The windows being the brick material looks a bit unusual

:woman_facepalming: Low Poly does not refer to texture. It literally means “low polygons” meaning the mesh has, well, fewer polygons. Low poly models can have textures, same with everything else.
Your house is, in fact, low poly as it’s mostly built of rectangles and lacks real visual detail except for the ‘textures’.

If you want a true high poly house then you should be using Blender, or at least incorporating Cylinders instead of just Parts.

I have no intention of just throwing hate on your build, it’s not bad; the colours work really well together in my opinion, as well as the house design (even if you used a reference). :+1: I have no idea where you got this knowledge from, please do your research before informing others from now on. :neutral_face:

The build is really cool, just fix the roofing and try to add more details on the build.
