Feedback on my inventory UI

inventory UI in progress for my game TYPHOON

shameless plug

the bottom are the tools, the container only appears when items are in vicinity OR you are searching a container. the character limbs will have different images displayed and colors based on your health. belt and holster only appear if you wear one. icons for each are displayed as images.

here is some current art designs i’ve made:

pants

based on the project zomboid inventory tetris mod;
image
planned to be a grid system similar to escape from tarkov.

ill probably add some icons to spice up the UI later on if i want to, (maybe) a weight system too

lmk what you think and how i can improve. im not a UI designer and i will say myself im very crappy at it so keep this in mind

maybe a bit more gradient use, make the very white borders on the character tab more transparent, maybe some of the text titles even having shadowing, make the scrolling frame bar smaller and a bit more transparent, i see that the character borders are intersecting eachother, maybe just make 1 whole image without the intersections then give it a coloured frame inside if you want to simulate the character damage in tarkov. Belt, holster, and back borders are all intersecting as if theyre joining, make the slightly smaller or make the tab bigger.

Conclusion:
It looks great just needs more polishing, Theres definitely more that you can add but im just noting the imperfections. Take more time on it if you will. Else, Its still great.

thanks for the feedback, i would like to note the character is one image, it’s just a crappy pdn drawing using boxes, i could fix it but i think it looks fine for what i’m going for. the toolbar intersecting is fair, i’ll fix that, took me a minute to try to center those correctly. i was planning on also doing that frame inside thing like you said. also where do i use gradient?

EDIT
i’ll probably move the toolbar more to the right so it doesn’t look off when the container section isn’t there

uigradient is a way to make gradients off of any type of ui, images, frames, text, and even uiborders.

i recommend you to read this if you want to learn more

i get what it is i’m just wondering where i should use it

oh sorry then, you shoudl give it to the text, and the frames because they look plain and boring, you should also implement it in your grid systems like the ones in tarkov (but the ones in tarkov are not quite noticable unless you get an object with rarity)

yea i was going to add gradient to the grid pieces because it looks pretty nice, i’ll have to play around with the transparency later

just curious, i was trying to have a medical system like project zomboid, do you know where i could put the bleeding or how i could show it? same with like showing deep wounds, scratches, or stiching? i imagine for bandages you just put the bandage image specific for which body part over said part.

without changing the ui, i dont see a way for this to be possible.

okay i have an idea.

for the character, like you said they will have all individual frames to represent health, when your torso or head health is zero, you die. if your legs break, you are much slower. a transparent frame with inside of each body part showing a hole for a wound, a bone fractured for a broken bone, and blood falling out of the hole image.
