So, Just recently I made a thumbnail for my new game I’m making,
It’s a post-apocalyptic roleplaying game.
I’m not super experienced in making logos, This is just made in studio.
I suggest just taking a picture of the sand, then making the actual text in an edit software and using a layer mask to mask down the text at the bottom to give it a feel as if parts of it were covered/buried in sand. Make sure to add some dust particles as well to the scene (in post editing, of course).
Going with the theme you seem to be using, I’d recommend laying the worlds out above and below each other. This allows the words themselves to be larger and (on the usually small logo) easier to read.
I like it. But not as a logo or a thumbnail, more as like the background to a menu or something in-game. Scale your image down by zooming out and you see the text is tiny compared to the space on the image. You have all that space available waiting to be used.
Sort of like @ProspektNova suggested, I’d do a top-down picture of just sand, and then have the name either as metal being buried by sand blow on top of it.
instead of being in a single line. That will allow you to fill more of the space and make it much easier to read on smaller devices, when zoomed out, and from a distance.
I actually like it, but as previously stated…Using a decal might look better.
Nevertheless your logo actually looks amazing. I specifically love how the text is buried in the sand.
It doesn’t work as a thumbnail.
The text is hard to read, and as a thumbnail most people’s eyes will just rove right over it.
It would work better as something added for visual interest in the game, such as the lobby.
If you want to make thumbnails, you need to create something that will “pop” out. Your image looks creative and original, but it won’t catch much attention. The text has a colour too similar to the sand, try making the text a bright, contrasting colour to the background. In addition, you want to enlarge it quite a bit. Add something in the background besides a desert. Some simple trees, or rocks would work.
If I were you, I’d personally ditch the text altogether. Add GFX figures (Roblox avatars) to your thumbnail, enjoying and interacting with your game. That way, players will have a good idea of the game’s content without actually visiting it, thus piping up interest.
Being a builder i don’t know much about this, but i can recommend playing with the studio lighting, blur, and other things.
If you don’t know how to do this I can send you a tutorial.
