Hello! I am currently working on a medieval city showcase and I need feedback on what I’ve got so far. I have been working on it for a few days now and there’s still a lot I need to add. Everything here is made/modeled by me.
If you decide to leave that environment and that “extremely bright yellow light” I would change it to a less “brickcolor” tonality. idk if you understand me but I mean colors like “red”, “blue”, “purple” simply selected without interleaving, If you prefer to leave it like that, I would make it less bright.
Regarding the textures, I think its the most remarkable, congratulations in that aspect.
Yes, you have all the minimum necessary for a medieval city, maybe a little space between the houses would be fine.
The structures themselves are looking pretty good. I especially like the tower piece set in the middle of the structure. However the lighting and overall illumination could use some work.
The lighting that’s casted in your environment is far too dark compared to the tone of your skybox. There is a big contrast between them and it breaks the illusion of what I assume is a sunset/sunrise. Furthermore, having lighting this dark can hide the finer details that you have on your build. For example, the stand next to the lamp post is barely visible. I suggest taking some more time to refine the shadows and illumination. Perhaps you could change the time of day, which can sometimes affect your skybox as well. I also suggest adding more lamp posts in general.
Lastly, I think the light coming from the lamp post is too potent and has an unnatural, bright yellow. I suggest mixing a bit more red and orange to achieve a more natural look. I also think taking down the brightness a little and perhaps reducing its radius could also work, given that the light covers a lot of area in the right structure.
lower the light intensity of the streetlamps, baby!! right now it is looking too intense and classic roblox-y. i know the lights you’ve chosen highlight the depth of the textures on your buildings, but it leaves that yellow smudge on the floor which looks a bit out of place. try playing with different colours w studio’s lights. they don’t have to be extreme; a subtle blue would look nice around the darker areas. i think this is what @/mari230899 and @/Crashee were trying to say.
another thing you could add is a world border; something like the back wall of another house or a distant forest behind all your buildings. when making showcase games like this, you need to make the player feel like they are actually in the area you are trying to create and not in roblox. seeing the edges of the part you used as the floor completely breaks player immersion, making the game forever look incomplete and empty. you dont have to go too crazy, just make sure the player cant see the end of the map.
also, there is a bit under the arc where the textures glitch in each other, you might want to fix that. attention to detail with things like this is everything!! dont lose it!!
i love how you’ve modeled everything yourself though. very impressive. i have yet to complete a game lol
