Hey there! I created a minigame and I would like to have your feedback on it. In the minigame there’s my firsts tries of UI and scripts.
I know that the “SPECTATE” button don’t work currently, I’ll fix it soon.
Be honnest with me, tell me how I should improve this minigame!
What is this minigame?
Rush the sword is a minigame where there’s a sword at the center of the map. When you touch it, you get a sword in your inventory. But if someone else touch the sword at the center of the map after you, you’ll lose the sword and the other player will get it!
There’s a lot of feedback that I have for this game, so here it is.
First Impressions
The thumbnail isn’t very attractive, and I’m assuming that the icon isn’t either. You should fix this by using some free software like paint .net(I spaced it so that roblox doesn’t automatically make it a link) to create better thumbnails and icons or pay someone to make them for you. This is extremely important as this will determine whether or not someone clicks on your game in the first place.
When I actually join the game, I’m on a bland platform with big, fuzzy letters above it. The gui isn’t very appealing either. Make sure to add detail to the platform and create a setting so that the player would know where they are. Maybe get rid of the big letters marking the spectate area, and add more detail to the gui.
When I was actually in the game, if I hadn’t read the description, I’d have no idea what to do, and it didn’t help that the sword, which was a free model, was lying flat on the ground, making it harder to see it. You should add some visual cues like arrows to show the player what to do, but avoid long tutorials. If need be, you may add a short tutorial, but only if you can’t find any other way.
Once I’d picked up the sword, I had no idea what to do with it, as there was no one in the server with me. This game should only be playable with at least two people, unless you add some sort of bot system, although that might not fit with the theme of this game. Either way, it wasn’t clear that a player had to touch the sword in the middle to obtain it, so most players will just attack each other, making this just become another sword fighting game, which everyone has already probably seen so much of.
Part summary: Remake thumbnails and icons, create a setting, and make it clear on what to do in the game.
General Gameplay
The game is too simple for someone to play for longer than 5-10 minutes at best. While your game is a pretty unique concept, you should add some extra features like different maps, gamemodes, cosmetics, and all sorts of things to really bring out the best in your game.
There is a high chance that players would figure out a way to always win by standing near the sword spawn and attacking anyone who comes near. To fix that, perhaps add a mechanic that teleports it to a random location or a way to prevent the sword-bearer from entering the sword spawn zone.
Part summary: Add extra elements to your game to get players engaged and prevent ways for players to abuse the sword.
Sorry if this demotivated you in any way, but you did say for me to be honest. I feel that if you add these things, you’re game could be a very fun and succesful game played by many. Thank you for reading, and good luck!
Are you crazy??? How can this feedback unmotivate me?? It even motivate me a lot to continue add things to the game! Thank you very much for this constructive feedback!
Glad to hear it! Just didn’t want to demotivate you because a lot of games these days are getting unoriginal and boring, so we need people to spice it up a bit.
