as we’re celebrating the new year, i’m thrilled to release my new experience “Constructopia”!
Constructopia is a free sandbox/building game where you can build anything you want, with its built in features such as walls, floors, roofs, stock items, catalog, and more… it is quite similar to bloxburg’s build mode.
Constructopia has some unique and exciting features such as:
Structural Elements: such as walls, floors and roofs. Catalog: Constructopia features an in-game catalog where players can publish their buildings to the catalog so other users can use it. Stock & Imported Items: it features plenty of stock items to use, as well as the ability to import stuff from your roblox inventory (must be set to everyone) Exporting to roblox studio: when you’re done building you can export your whole building to roblox studio to use it in your own games. Edit Mode: you can move, scale, rotate, and paint objects, add to that the ability to change its material, properties, and more… Camera: You can toggle between two camera modes, yourself and a freecam. Loading & Saving: yes, it saves (or should i say serializes) objects, and loads them back too! Typical features: delete mode, adjustable height, grid size, customizable roofs Sets: you can create a custom set which is basically a bunch of object properties grouped into one setting (colors, materials, props, etc…)
Keybinds:
E - Catalog
Q - Construction Mode
P - Camera Mode
Tab - Settings
M - Teleport into mouse
Equal - Export to roblox studio
G/H - Change Handles Mode
R - Inventory
Right Click Grid Options Button - Change grid size
Del - Delete Mode
C - Adjust Height
Ctrl Z/Ctrl Q - Undo/Redo
i guess thats it…
anyway, any feedback is appreciated! hope you enjoy the game atleast
i just tried out your game and i love it! i think you have a really great concept and your game is much-needed on the platform, especially for incompetent builders like me…
a suggestion: maybe change the back button on the menus to say “back”? right now it resembles an undo button and it took me a second to figure out that it was a back button.
a bug i found: my mesh inventory loaded successfully, but when i tried to add a mesh to my building inventory, it was just a white square and i could not load it into the game (i tried this twice)
your game is super duper cool and i’m excited to see how it evolves! good luck!
Hey man, first of all I really liked the aesthetics of the game and how nothing felt out of place or distracting(especially the music) and overall this is a really well-built game. I can tell you put a lot of effort into making this but to be honest, it got quite boring at the start coz I had no ideas for what to build and there was no clear goal of the game besides to be creative. Its pretty similar to build a boat where the goal is to survive the challenges whereas in this game, there’s no clear aim. I saw another player in the server and we started just trying to trap each other in blocks but it got boring pretty quickly and he left 2 minutes later. As a project, this is really cool and high quality, but as a roblox game, I would recommend u add something that makes players want to be addicted to it. Also maybe allow the players to change the size of blocks. Anyways, great game overall and I know soon it’s going to blow up!
I imported a couple models from my inventory and I wasn’t able to place them into the game through the inventory dialogue. When I imported each asset, the console printed the message “Asset is not trusted for this place.” My inventory is visible to everyone on the website.
The back button is a bit confusing. In the “Import from Inventory” page, it’s in the bottom right, but in the “Inventory” page, it moves to the top right. I think consistency is important for people to be able to learn the game quickly, especially if the button is a simple icon and not a text button.
Grid snapping only seems to be reliable when you’re placing a block on the top surface on another. If you try to place a block on another’s side for example, it gets offset strangely and its height doesn’t snap properly.
When you’re placing an object, pressing the cancel button (as opposed to pressing X) will close the cancel dialogue but you’ll still be stuck in placing mode. If you then click to start placing a different object while in this state, your character will try to place both at the same time.
There doesn’t seem to be a way to stop noclipping. When you noclip, all the currently placed blocks will become uncollidable and will stay that way even if you wait for the cooldown and click the noclip button again. Blocks placed while noclipping will be collidable though.
