Feedback On My Newest Game! (Grand Chicago Boulevard)

GRAND CHICAGO BOULEVARD

I’ve currently been working on a game called: Grand Chicago Boulevard.
A game where you could do (almost) anything you’d like to.

For Example:

  • Start a business
  • Become a farmer
  • Join the mafia
  • Join gangs
  • Become a fisherman

Here are some screenshots of it:

I’d like you to give feedback about:

  • The Gun System
  • The Map
  • The Job Systems
  • Glitches
  • Ways to earn money
  • The Overall Experience

Suggestions are always appreciated!

Feedback is much appreciated! :hugs:
Important Note: This game is heavy roleplay, not roleplaying will result in a ban. (7-14 Days)

Hey, so I just checked out the game, and I found some stuff that could use some work.

Starting UI, it is very basic and it does not match the feel of the game.
Terrain issue,

I assume you see what I am looking at, but there is a massive opening and the walls are just going strait up.
Shop GUI’s, They take up a lot of my screen, even though there are barely any items in a lot of the shops.
Free models, free
They seem to be in a lot of places, I would refrain from using them.
Sign
If you are going to make a sign like this, at least make it a billboard gui due to players only seeing one side.

However, I like the atmosphere, other than the whole game being one free model after another.

Hi there, thank you for your feedback.

Yes, I am aware that some models are free models.
For example, the speed limit sign is not fully a free model.
The model itself is custom, but the decal is free modelled.
Same goes for the trees, there’s the texture free modelled.

Most of the textures come from cc0textures or quixel as you might recognize some of them.

All of the other things in the game are custom made.
And yes, the UI almost fully covers your screen due to some resolution compatibility issues.
This will be fixed upon as the game further progresses to Alpha.
The terrain is not fully done yet as the map isn’t too so the terrain won’t look perfect.
There is much more to come, as of only 1 of the 7 cities have been built yet in the map.
For example, there will be a city behind the border as it is the place where the immigrants used to stay. You should play the game again in a couple of months to see what has happened to it then!

I will use your feedback to improve the game & keep on working on it.

And again, thank you for your feedback.

Aaand what’s wrong with using free models?

Just my personal opinion, I myself would never use a free model in my game. They are risky and If I would make a game, I would like to credit myself for the entire game.

Can’t give you feedback about the guns because they cost too much money, the map seems to fit for the style of the game and there are many different ways to earn cash, about the overall experience id say it’s an game with many different ways to be played,to be honest i like the UI,it seems good but i feel like the vision is too blurry. The game uses free models,i don’t see any problems on that but i would recommend making your own models so that your game and staff can have a better image in the eyes of the community.Overall a good game, i didn’t find any bugs and the gameplay reminds me of The Streets/Da Hood, wich is probably the same kind of audience that this game would attract.

There is nothing wrong using Free Models though but if you want to make a successful and a good game you should refrain using Free Models else the people will criticize you for using it though and your game maybe will end up with a lot of dislikes and stuff.

Using free models shouldn’t affect any game’s success. Any game could become successful even if it’s using free models.

Yes you are right any game could become successful even if it’s using free models but if you use it a lot of people criticize the game for using Free Models and the people end up disliking the game so it does affect the game’s success in a way

I’ve seen barely any people complain about a game using free models and not liking the game just because of some models.

Thank you for your feedback!

I know that there are some free models in the game.
But all of the buildings were custom made and are 100% legit, with exception of 1 building. (The tents in the forest). Most of the models that you might think are free models might not be a free model actually. For example: the trees. The (textureless) model was made in blender. (I am able to proof it if you’d like me to give you a screenshot). But then I went to a site called: quixel. And I found a free texture for leaves and I took that for my game. I did it with a lot of things that way. (With exception of some pine trees, cause those are actually free models). But for the rest none of it is free modelled.

Using only free models or mostly free models ruins your reputation. You are making money off of more things you did not make or do not own than of what is yours.

You should use free models only in moderation, and make most of your content yourself.

The game is partly free modelled (Look at some of my posts above to have more information about it due to most of it being custom made but only the textures being free from a website called quixel or cc0textures.)

There’s no “you can’t make money off of the game if you’re using free models” guideline anywhere.
Free models are free models and they will always be free. They were never created for profit.

Who said I didn’t liked the game because of some Models
And I am just saying it to refrain from using it I am not saying that I hate the game because it has free models inside it.

No they weren’t, but they are used to generate profit. And using them excessively in a game to do so - where 90% of it is not your work? That’s something you should avoid.

Nobody is stopping people from success with free models. But it’s not the best way to earn success.

Most of the game models are custom models as almost only a couple are free models. I’ve got a builder working on the game 24/7 (Not actually 24/7 due to this being parttime) as I can provide screenshots of a testing place. I’m not trying to ruin my reputation. The scripting is fully custom though. (With exception of the gun system.).

Yes you can make money off a game who is using free models but people will criticize you for using it and it will ruin your reputation. You can make a game using free models but why use it when it is ruining your reputation and your game has a lot of dislikes just because your game is using free models. So I would recommend you to refrain from using it.

Using Free Models Are Fine But Atleast Change Them With Your Own Models Next Time, Because Using Free Models Could Get Your Game Contain Viruses. FM Viruses Are Bad For Your Game Because It Slows Your Game And Ruin Everyones Experience, Such As Purchase Prompt Scripts That Pops Up On The Players Screen And Might Accidentally Buy It.

Heres a Tip, Maybe Try Finding Decals And Create Some Meshes In Blender Or Probably Take a Referrence From a Free Model And Recreate It Your Own. Trust Me It Will Look Better Than Using Free Models, If You Dont Have Blender You May Search Up Some Meshes In The Tool Box.

It looks like there are a lot of free models in this game, the font doesn’t really fit with the theme and the terrain generation is off. The idea is nice though.
