Feedback on my RPG

For my game, Cursed Lands, I recently updated it to 1.1.1, remaking most if not all animations in the game involving the player, adding updates to performance, adding some effects for some stuff, adding some new content and badges, etc.

I’m currently looking for feedback looking onwards to 1.1.2 to see what I can add/improve.

Already acknowledged issues that will be addressed in 1.1.2:

  • The current tutorial isn’t really acknowledged that much and it isn’t that intuitive/useful (will be remade).
  • Overhaul/Remove most early game powers (a bunch of them are essentially useless/glitchy)
  • Lack of sound effects in some places

But overall I need all feedback I can get, tell me anything the game is missing for you, so if you have anything to say, please tell me in this thread.

Game Link:

(I recommend following the dirt path to get to the village where most info is right now and interacting with any npcs you can find to get yourself guided a bit, enemies drop some gold so you can buy tools at the shop if you wanna try progressing a bit)

I think your game is great, but there is something that needs a lot of improvement.

  1. The GUI: The text font is always the same and it’s very unattractive, it looks like it’s blurred. Try using different fonts for each thing, not one font for all.

  1. The subtitles take up a lot of screen space, it looks like it’s pushing you out of your screen, it’s also above other GUI’s, it’s better to make it take up the space needed for everything to be visible.

  1. The text of the notifications should be centered

  1. The map is very empty and it’s always the same, you should add mini structures or a different terrain to the rest.

  1. the left sidebar, when hidden, should hide EVERYTHING, not excepting an element, as it seems as if it does not work properly

  1. This type of frame type stores. They should have a little less information and a better design with a different font than usual. You should also make it smaller as it takes up a lot of screen space.

My opinion

Your game has a future but there are still many things to improve, keep it up! I hope you take my feedback as help and not as criticism :happy1:

Sure I’d appreciate tips, the whole thing regarding using fonts is a no personally because it’d look like a mix mash of just random fonts and it’d look worse.

But please, send any tips you have for me.

Of course!

Some of the tips I can give you are the following:

  1. Try not to occupy ALL the space of the user’s screen, it can be very annoying and in case you have a large screen, clicking on something can be “very time consuming” and very annoying.
  2. Put yourself in the player’s shoes, think about how a player would feel when playing your game, for example how he/she would feel when using your movement, your UI and your mechanics.
  3. Prioritize the different, making a game that is always the same is very boring, you should put mechanics in which the player is very hooked to your game.

Take Bee Swarm Simulator as an example, it is always the same but thanks to its money mechanic, it hooks the players, and with this I mean that what they do is to make it difficult to get objects and money, so the player will want to set a goal to get something that catches his attention like a weapon

Also, be self-critical, look for what you can do differently, how you can improve it and why you should improve it
