this is like the second track ive ever made so its not great but i think its not bad either.
I think it is really good! What is the game about?
well there is no game yet because i cant think of any good game ideas, but i’ll probably use it once i think of something
You could sell too a developer that can use it.
thats not a bad idea, but dont i have to copyright the music first in order to sell it or something?
No, if its your music you can just give out samples
The music has a unique style to it but I think it repeats a little too much. It’s kind of the same idea over and over again with nothing else being added, no contrast, no variation; it’s just a synth and overly powered bass (percussion maybe?)
It’s too easy for us to get an idea going and then keep to that one idea. But to make music we need to go from idea A to idea B back to idea A and maybe throw an idea C in there, we cannot just stick to one idea throughout or it won’t bring the piece’s full potential out.
As for this statement, you do not necessarily need to copyright it. The legal process can get very confusing but basically anyone can use non-copyrighted music with the creator having no say (until it goes to court, but I am keeping this basic here). If you do copyright it you will need to get a legal paper (just something saying I [name] give [name] permission to use [music]) giving the person using it permission to use that piece of music. That is basically the copyright part summed up,
I left out a lot of details but the big takeaway is that you do not need to copyright it for someone else to use it.
oh okay, thanks for the advice!
also how would i even go about selling the audio?
You’d have to work that out with the one buying it. For the most part you can set a price to buy or see what their offer is. But be aware, if you sell to like someone who plans to use the audio on a large scale (popular YouTube videos, popular game, etc) the chances of the music being stolen will increase and as it is un-copyrighted you will have no legal standing against them using it for free.
I’ve personally never come across any problems with people stealing my commissioned works but I also do not post the commissioned works in a public place where people can easily download it.
Once again, the whole copyright thing just becomes a real mess with all very technical terms & procedures.
