For the past week I wanted to work on on my discipline and finally get out a game I started working on, Silly Paintball!!
Currently it’s a FFA Deathmatch in some greyboxed levels, but I’m hoping over time to constantly update and improve it to be an awesome 90s-styled FPS game with a silly twist!
And hopefully more! (But these are my main goals for the future!)
But I hope you enjoy it, and as of writing this I’m playing with some friends, so feel free to hop in! I’d love to hear your feedback, positive or negative!
I love your silly paintball game very much
Add some touch ups like map voting and maybe some more weapons and it’d be a huge dub
Maybe change the mario sound too before nintendo pulls up with a switch
Thank you very much! I’ll be taking multiple weapons into consideration!
As for the Mario Sound, I added it in awhile back then removed it, but it’s been sticking around and I don’t know why lol. I’ll check it out right now.
Did a quick fixed and resized some of the mobile screen buttons for one of my friends, since it was bothering them. Took roughly about 30 seconds lol.
The major thing I worked on today was completely redoing how player’s spawn.
Previously, I found out that the script I had put the player at the farthest spawn point from any player, instead of a rough average. So I went ahead and got to work starting from scratch to make sure it goes through each spawn, gets the distance of all players relative to that spawn, get the average distance to that spawn, repeat for all the spawns, and finally determine which one has the farthest average.
Hopefully this system should work better than the previous one, but feel free to hop on with a friend and tell me what you think, it’s appreciated as always!
yes, please add bhopping and parkour mechanics like wallrun, wallclimb, and springboard. that would make it an awesome game that i’d play for sure. make the jump less floaty and movement faster. also unlock mouse so we can invite friends. i can also flick off walls to get a midair boost by wallhopping, may wanna fix.
Game at the moment is pretty bad at the moment. Not to be harsh.
First, why is the view-model so far to the right?
Confusing match system, unlock mouse as I wanna invite my other friends instead of calling them to play with me…
Pardon me everyone, it’s been awhile. Been affected by the hurricane and haven’t really been able to work, plus me getting distracted as I tend to. But now I’m here to listen to your feedback!
Understood, will be working on a method to hopefully be able to make the viewmodel position more consistent, especially considering I like playing at 120 FOV while the default is 90. If I can’t find a good way to make it position correctly, I’ll be sure to add a system to manually adjust as needed.
I will 100% agree with you fellas on this, it would be nice to have a little more depth to the movement. I’ve tried messing around a bit with some previous systems but I haven’t completely found a feel I want. Will up this on the priority list.
Roblox is really something lol. I’ll try to make it so that the paintable walls don’t have collisions and I’ll manually add them to hopefully fix this issue. Thanks for pointing it out!
Absolutely will do, menus are planned next so that should put that problem at ease.
Assuming you’re talking about the clipping, if so, there’s not much I can do about that. The viewmodels are active parts in the 3D space, which I have two main reasons for;
Using Roblox’s GUI viewmodels presented a frankly very low resolution render with it being very difficult to add proper lighting with the world making it look butt-ugly.
It’s honestly just easier to control it with the current system in place, can’t really sugarcoat that one.
Nah you’re good dude! It’s much better to hear this because it’s the early stages of the game and it’s way better to get some harsh feedback to form it into a more fun game then just be spoon-fed praise.
Could you elaborate on this one please?
I really appreciate you all taking the time to check out the game, I definitely wish to fix all of these issues as soon as I can! Thank you!
Viewmodel fix as well as a cool new menu has been added! You can access it on PC/Console with M on keyboard and B on controller, also added a little invite button to it so you can invite your friends as well as some neat little music and effects. Tell me what you think! Rest is coming soon!
Today I worked on making up a settings framework up and running, works with camera FOV and I’m just going to assume it’ll probably work with other things in the future lol. That’s probably all the work I’ll be up to today.
Oh and here’s a video of all that menu stuff in action if you don’t really feel like checking it out in-game. :3
