Hello. Me and my friend have been working on this game for some time now, we just hit 100 visits and made a small update to celebrate the game reaching 100 visits.
If anybody would be interested enough to check out our game and leave a small review here, it would be very much appreciated.
Lots of spelling errors, like in the description and thumnails, unless that was intentional
mobile support would be good, cuz I cant play
And badges would be cool too
Everything is spelled correctly except for Pown Schop, which is a shop name included in-game. Thanks for the feedback aswell.
Hello.
I like the game you made. I tried it and went into the game with the impression as if I had just clicked this game while bored scrolling through the game list to make sure that this would be from my honest and personal perspective of how I would play this game. I will share the thoughts I had while playing and issues I occurred.
Let’s get started.
First impression.
The loading screen is nice. The music is relaxing and follows a single theme. Though there is one thing that bugged me and that is the light. It flickers a bit slow and long, making it feel like it’s more some sort of graphical issue or the light not loading correctly. It just doesn’t impress me as a flickering light. Perhaps balance it out with a different light source which illuminates the area from further away, or make the flickering much shorter with more randomized intervals.
There was also this button in the ‘Update Log’, which overlapped the menu text and seemed no different than normal text, making the button seem out of place.
Playthrough
I then explored the map. It’s a small map on the surface so it did not take long to explore. The store being ‘under construction’ is a nice touch, as it gets you interested in coming back to this game later to see when the building is opened in future updated. I sometimes wondered what was and wasn’t interactable, as a lot of props did not have any interaction, but suddenly trash cans did, despite dumpsters being not. Nevertheless, not that big of a deal.
After scavenging the streets, I went into the underground. The mood changed, and suddenly I was in a Labour Tycoon Simulator (satire). All the jobs (early game) are located in this small area underground, which can get kind of disorienting since it’s lack of uniformity and small hallways. It could go hand-in-hand with the cluttery, messy and illegal feel that the place is supposed to have, but as a new player without any tutorial, it’s confusing. For the first 10 minutes of my playthrough, I knew I had to get a broom, but did not yet find where. This time was also largely spent in the underground area, where the brooms are to be found.
I like to hunt for hidden things, so I guess you could say I am in the demographic for these types of games. You never know what to expect around the corner, and when you go somewhere you thought was blocked off and you weren’t supposed to be, the developers throw in some obscure prop, laughing at you for thinking you were smart. So instinctively, I went under the stairs. I found a poor guy sitting under it and teaching me emotes. I was able to do them, although the chat was warning me otherwise. As an R6 character, you apparently are not allowed to emote, but you still do.
I also faced an issue with what I am guessing is the camera distance from the players you talk to. (Side-note, make the player able to move during the last message of the NPC. I saw myself growing impatient to move as I read their message a lot faster than the game ended conversation.)
This was one example, I was able to replicate it with other NPC’s as well. This game is more functional in first person than in third person, which is sad, because otherwise you would miss out on the microwave animation. Thankfully I was on my own in the server (if the sound is executed server-sided).
Then I was finally able to find the brooms. Though I was faced with an ultimatum by the game. Do I grab the broom that gives me a broom or do I grab the broom that takes away a broom?
Choosing the +1 broom option, I also grabbed the cloth and went about to clean some stuff. That was cut short by me going into other stores to look for items to earn money with, so I went into the first store I could find, the PC repair store. I went into the back, and for some reason, I was able to collect level 40 items, being the hammer and the boxcutter. Thinking back about the boxes on the outside area of the map, I went out to see if I can use those to earn money, and I was charged 20 ‘money’ for leaving the store with store-owned equipment, leaving me at -20 money.
Should’ve read the signs better.
Trying to cure my sadness, I found this cat. To my surprise, I can click the cat. I clicked it again because nothing happened, and apparently something does happen, the cat purrs. But the music is too loud to hear it clearly. I beg you, make the cat louder.
Having cured my debt-related depressions, I went back to cleaning, clearing my debt pretty quickly. I have also noticed that it is fairly easy to alter the animation positions. It’s a minor issue, since it doesn’t take away any of the gameplay mechanics, however if you want to prevent this from happening, you need to make sure that the player’s character (when activating the animation in third person) their CFrame runs the LookAt()
function, and I’m not sure if it would work, but change the player’s camera to Enum.CameraType.Scriptable
for the duration of the animation to make them unable to turn their character in first person.
Moving the broom away from the pile by using first person.
After some more brooming, I was getting impatient to be level 10, since that is the level you need to be able to do the next job. I did not understand why there is a 10 level interval between the first and second job, but then 5 level intervals for the next 3/4 jobs. In my opinion, I was doing this for a bit too long. Yes, it is a social worker simulator, but since it’s a Roblox game, it still has to feel somewhat rewarding. I was also unsure when I would be able to level up, since you do get shown your level and XP, but no indication of how much XP you need for the next level. That also takes away from the rewarding feeling, likewise the way you level up; non-existent. No sound, no image, no animations, nothing to indicate that you levelled up other than your XP being back to 0 and your level one higher.
Getting pretty bored of just walking around and brooming, I had earned some tickets and decided to spin the wheel. All the time saving up, and it was time to see some results.
Shucks.
Afterthoughts
I definitely did enjoy my time in this game. I have to respect that this is a beta build, which to my surprise still had very good functionality. The foundation of this game is working, and as of the way it is now, all that it requires is mostly just QoL-updates. The game is fun, the idea is a creative spin off of other games this reminded me of (Zach’s Service Station), and it’s a relaxing experience.
TL:DR; In it’s current state, solid 7/10.
Wow, I didn’t expect anyone to put this much effort into a review for such a small game, thank you a lot!
We appreciate you pointing out the visual bugs and other issues that we did not acknowledge before releasing the game. We will definitely be fixing all of the bugs that you have found with our game and try to improve on it as we go.
And again, thank you very much for the review and the final rating, didn’t expect to get such a high one either.
