Feedback on my solo game, Paper World!

Hello, I am jXD20072 but you can call me jXD. I’ve been making this game over the past months and I’d like to have some opinions on it!

The game is a 2.5D singleplayer platformer game based on stickmans. There is currently only 1 world although i would like to have feedback on the game idea, scripting and performance. I have been working on this by myself and I’m feeling quite demotivated right now, so I want to know if it’s worth the time.

Link to the game (pc only)

Any feedback is appreciated!

really cool and interesting concepts. My only real complaint is the camera lagging behind the player is kinda bad cause I see cant where I’m going because the camera is behind the player. I think you want to make the camera target to be the player position plus their move direction so the players can see whats ahead of them

My idea was to make a smooth camera, i think i can make it move faster. Have you tried using the mouse wheel to zoom out a bit though?

I have, but it still kinda hard to see

Its a neat concept but there is nothing showing me exactly what it is I’m meant to do, and no sound effects(sound effects are a big part of games!) And the loading screen should be a bit more alive, the only thing moving is the arrows and it feels dead. Other then that very nice mechanics and by the way, its kinda annoying that the camera falls behind.

The player is meant to explore the lobby to find portals, secrets, characters etc. I agree the game needs sound effects and I’ll try to do that, also the loading screen being static. The camera was originally roblox’s default one but it was a bit dizzying since you can only see in 2D, so I’ll make sure to make it faster. Thanks for your feedback!

Did the game tell me that I’m meant to “explore the lobby to find portals, secrets, characters”? You could add like little tips in the home menu telling me “These are the characters you have found!”

That’s a nice idea! I’ll make sure to add it

This is a very unique game and concept. Something that I haven’t seen on ROBLOX yet. This could easily hit the front page if you add an online mode. You made the wall climbing system and dialogue perfectly. You can easily have a future in the top games or front pages if you keep up quality games like these!

I only noticed a single bug. The bug is that the player stops moving after entering the portal on stage 1, and after talking to Mark. Weird, but it should be easily to fix.

Did you click on the stickman to talk? The player is supposed to be locked while talking to another character, like at the beggining.
By the way, I plan to add a multiplayer lobby soon! I just want to finish worlds 1 and 2 first

Yeah I did. I wrestled with the dialogue for about 5-10 minutes before I ultimately gave up and left the game.

That’s great to hear!

Honestly this is really interesting and pretty well made, but quite unpolished. I think once you fix all the bugs, this would be a really nice game!

P.S: you can break the game by resetting, you should probably disable that.

Very nice game, i think it’s the first time i see this type of game. I agree with @ItzBloxyDev because you don’t really know what are you supposed to do.
But i don’t see any bug.

This game is very original and cool! I especially like the custom mouse pointer! I almost forgot I was playing Roblox sometimes! Like others said though, it could have some more direction after you enter the portal.

No, it’s not. Could you please specify how you fell?

I clicked the play gui then my character fell under your map to a empty baseplate.

Wow! I could see this game as one of those rare gems you find on friv. You should add a debounce on the dialog to avoid this problem.

Oh thank you for pointing that out, I didn’t realize you could just keep clicking…
