Im a bit new to animation and recently created this walk animation. I’m lost when it comes to choosing the easing style because there is barely any difference between them . I intend for this to be used in game so im also wondering if the walking animation is too fast Any and every feedback and opinion is appreciated, thanks
edit: yikes I just realized that quality is really bad this one should be better
He looks like he’s dragging his feet forward
maybe make him pickup his feet more.
Also raise the arms you appear to have lowered the characters arms below where they should be the top of the arm should be aligned with the torso vertically when it is level with the torso if it isn’t aligned vertically then you should raise it (up is relative to the torso).
Also note I am not an animator I am just pointing out what I think looks wrong.
EDIT:
Also the head doesn’t move relative to the torso maybe make them try to look forwards instead of looking up a bit and looking down a bit it just doesn’t look appealing to me make the head bob more subtle in the rotation aspect make them look at a constant angle maybe make them bob rotationally a bit but not locked with the torso.
EDIT2:
As for easing I find that legs tend to work better with cubic easing when I attempt to animate things maybe for arm swings as well. Basically cubic starts slow then goes fast then slows down again but linear just goes at a constant speed throughout also try changing it from ease inout to ease in (for cubic starts slow then goes fast) or ease out opposite of ease in (if using cubic makes it start fast then slow down).
I personally like to make every bone on a rig move between keyframes even if it doesn’t have to just make tiny micro adjustments to everything. In my opinion it helps me make my animations less “chunky”.
Try doing that it might help though you appear to be using an r6 rig and its hard to make them look good without moving everything between keyframes anyway.
And have you tried animating in blender then importing it into studio if you animate it in blender you can use things like constraints to make animating easier.
Hey sorry for the late reply, never made an animation with blender but i have imported a rig and played with it a bit but i realized the learning curve seems quite steep. R15 animations look really time consuming and complicated to me so i stuck with r6. Also is blender worth spending the time to learn over moon animator in your opinion?
Talking about late replies sorry for my late reply, I haven’t used moon animator so I cant tell you whether it is worth your time or not what I can say is that blender animation is definitely worth doing as even if you do move on from Roblox you’ll still know how blender works + blender can be used to 3d model and texture its an all in one 3d software you can do 3d whatever the heck you want using blender.
As for r15 animation I wouldn’t class that as necessary its just nice I mean its basically r6 animation but you move the elbow and shoulder to position the hands instead of waving the whole arm about but doing it this way is totally optional you can instead animate r15 like r6 by just moving the shoulder joint about with the move tool and position the arm the way you would in r6 its all just how you animate it as you could animate r6 like r15 but with some rather poor results due to only moving the joints with the rotate tool.
