so i am making a zombie survival game inspired by apocalypse rising and deadzone
this my game takes place in 2014-2015 roblox
the game is called Reincarnation of the Dead a.k.a RotD
I have no idea what the controls are, you can prepend the keybind to the buttons on the left (for example: Inventory (G))
stats don’t reset when you die from what I’ve seen
settings menu seems to reset on death but the options don’t, same thing for character creation screen
craft and stats don’t work and I’m not sure what to do about them, I assume you haven’t implemented them, you could grey out the button (darker grey) and remove the “Active” and “AutoButtonColor” properties if it’s unfinished to indicate the lack of functionality.
inventory doesn’t empty out when you die (just noticed this)
I also have some things to say about the experience of the game:
animations aren’t very good, I know it’s supposed to be old but please add a reload animation
recoil is too immediate, use a small tween (like a 0.1 second tween, look at grave digger for example)
baseball bat animations don’t work after dying
rebind shiftlock to something else so it doesn’t conflict with the shift key to sprint
other than that, the game does look tailored to it’s time era so I have to give it that.
okay, thanks for the feedback, i also already have keybinds for the inventory and settings, the stats not reseting is one thing i forgot to do. yes the craft and stats buttons arent implemented yet
im really bad at animating and a reload animation for guns meight look pretty basic, snappy and simple
i do agree with the recoil being way to immediate.
and with rebinding shiftlock i have no idea how to do that.
i actually REALLY like the style of the map and GUI in this game. i would suggest adding some small text that shows occasional hints, because im confused on how to craft or where any zombies are. i would add some drivable cars too.
i died and i believe my stats are supposed to reset? also put barriers around the edge of the map, i fell into the water thinking i could swim
also it’s alright that the animation is snappy and basic, the game’s artstyle is supposed to reflect it being a 2014-2015 esque game and therefore things will look simple
I can’t lie the UI design here is a lot better than most games, it’s not a super fast paced game so putting the stats to the bottom left side of the screen is fine also because there’s effects on the whole screen when you get damaged that don’t get in the way of normal gameplay but still serve as a functional indicator, I just think the size is sort of a problem and I’d suggest you add a setting to make the size of the UI a bit bigger
thanks for the feedback.
the style for the ui isint isint the finall product and i am currently changing it to fit the bar, side buttons and inventory ui.
and occasional hints do not sound that bad, i could add description to most items.
and for there to be no zombies, you meight have been lucky for no zombies to spawn, there is a 50% for a zombie to spawn in at a spawn point.
but drivable cars meight be the last thing i would do.
and your stats dont reset for now.
i would add barriers around the map thanks for saying that, i almost forgot it.
Im really happy that u’ve made most of the necessary changes to the game, I’ve came back to say that the controls still activate upon typing in chat, you still don’t lose all items when you die (neither do your stats reset) and the shiftlock key appears to just be unbound.
Really liked the game and the mood. I was expecting zombie encounters indoors too, those would make for great surprises when you are scavenging at night.
Interacting with doors while equipping the pistol was a bit weird, maybe change the cursor to crosshairs when not on top of interactive objects like door or loot so that you know when you are going to shoot?
Keep up the good work!
i actually have no idea on how to check if the player is typing, if you can help me i really apreciate it, and also i bounded shift lock to alt, so its actually alt lock.
