Feedback on "Party game"

I developed this originally in case there was another lock down period. As well as something to add to my Portfolio/Showcase.

But the more I’ve been developing it, the more It has became a chill game to play when your bored as it is mouse only.

I don’t know whether or not I should develop this further adding cosmetics and currency with game passes and dev products. Or just leave it where it is and play it with friends.

[EDIT]: The game can be played single player, But keep in mind it is meant to be played as a multiplayer. Single player you will place you into a practice game.

Feedback on this would be great as I’m developing this independently and need some outside input: Party Pong - Roblox

Thank you,

I played your game… i spend about 5 minutes trying to land the lines in the red… finally i did it and no ball in cup… very frustrating.

I feel the horizontal tween on the bottom is not as smooth or accurate as the vertical one on the right, but im sure they are identical cuz why wouldnt they be… however, they look slightly different when tweened.

The game seems promising, but these could use some tweaks.

PS: not sure what the initial camera angle is for that faces the table, are we supposed to move this angle for any other reason other than aesthetics?

Not sure if this is how I want the mechanics of the game to be finalised either. New people I test with struggle with it. Whereas I get it first try almost every time. This is just how I’ve seen an off-Roblox game do it.

That’s said I wouldn’t know what to even replace it with that has a more realistic feel. If you have any ideas?

Yeh the vertical and the horizontal use the same Function so they shouldn’t be different, Although sometimes the bottom one glitches (very rarely) However I’ve not seen the vertical one do this. I will look into this if I do decide to keep (and improve) this mechanic.

If you are on about the one that’s face down over the table. There’s a whole bounce feature that if you do so, they lose 2 cups, but the other player can slap it away if they’ve reacted fast enough. Dragging the camera help place the target more accurately on the table away from the cups.

Thank you for taking the time to comment. This has been very helpful in understanding a new players perspective on the game. Changes will be made but not sure what and when.

Hope to hear back, ~ Anon

So i played your game again and i made HUGE improvements… i didnt realize the first screen showing the birds eye view of the table was meant to position your first bounce, i was clicking to get past that screen and always missing. Doing it now, the game not only gets much funner, but i land most of the shots!

If there was a quick tutorial right before player starts on maybe on the lobby page would be better, it will help people understand it quicker (just for impatient players lol).

Excellent game though, and i like the new icon too.

It’s a nice game, works decently well in single player, and definitely has a lot of potential.
Though I haven’t seen what multiplayer looks like, as no-one else was there.

Ive wanted to create a tutorial for a while, but I don’t know the best way to go about it.

I can’t have the tutorial at the begining of the game because it will slow the start down for the opposing players. But having it in the lobby, people will probably just not read it.

For now I’ve got those awful text label instructions to help a little bit but again they aren’t great and are very vague.

Maybe if a player is playing for the first time they’ll go into a tutorial place first. But again players may just wanna play with there friends and they’ll have to wait.

If anyone has any ideas on this it would be much appreciated!

And thank you for the positive feedback.

Ok i played again and i can better articulate what was confusing me… u might not need tutorual:

On the screen where you set target to bounce on table, keep all directions on left side and re-label it so it says Step 1: tap to set target. (I dont think you need the camera scroll direction, i think its evident, but if u think its better make that step 1 and step 2 will be tap to set target).

On next screen label the direction Step 2: etc. And keep it same spot on left side.

I hope you get what im trying to say.

Okay so I’ve added this whole Tutorial section now, But in case players don’t bother with it I’ve added a instructions tab in the bottom left that explains the instructions. I’m planning on creating a settings tab to have the option of removing this for players who know what they’re doing.

Its also now works on phone as well.

Awesome, the improvements are really helpful in my opinion!

So this time when I played, i played twice…it did this on the first try:

The green dot from my first throw remained throughout the round and there was a bit of a glitch from when it first switched to the final screen it jumped back to the previous screen.
I hadn’t yet examined the help menu so it wasnt related to that at all.

Also, I would knock up the volume of the music a bit

Let me know if im being nit picky.

No, nit picky is what I was hoping for with this post.

I’ve investigated it and that green dot will appear if you manage to time selecting a target right as the timer runs out. It doesn’t break anything for PC players just has that weird green dot. But for some reason Phone players cant select a target.

Will hopefully get this fixed soon, Thanks for spotting it!

[After this I think I will stop development on it as it’s not really that fun to play casually. It could be good for an MMO game as a minigame or something but that’s it.]
