I’ve been trying to find reliable GFX artists to hire to make assets for me but didn’t have any luck so a couple days ago I decided I’d try to learn on my own. As part of a new series on my social media, I’ve been making free GFX’s for my new followers. These are the first three I’ve done using Blender.
I feel like the light on the right of the second image is too vibrant for being indoors. Also, many models in the scene either have no color/texture or the texture makes no sense. ( Purple chair, potted plant, non textured cookies, glitchy looking bowl under the stand mixer. )
This is overall great, a 8/10. GFX isn’t inherently hard to do, but getting things right such as color theory, 3D Modeling, etc. can be challenging to get right.
The texturing issues can be fixed by adding a texture and changing the color of it to fit the environment better. There are many tutorials on YouTube on the topic, but here is one: Applying TEXTURES in Blender - Tutorial - YouTube
The lighting can be fixed by changing the brightness of the lights inside of Blender. ( Lights inside are usually not as bright compared to the sun, especially in cases like a home or kitchen. )
All other things I found issue with, such as color theory, can be looked up on YouTube or google. I would recommend checking out some of the other aspects of Blender before jumping right into GFX.
For the first GFX, you put a bit too much gloss on the character’s head. I suggest lowering it, as it doesn’t match the texture and the scene.
I like the second and third GFXs! It matches the aesthetic theme you were going for. It may just be the models, but the background looks like mostly solid colors for the texture (The cookies are pale pink, but forgive me if you wanted them to be like that)
I suggest using editing software such as Photoshop or a free software called Photopea. Using free software can help you if you can’t afford it, but there’s only so far you can go with that. Proper editing software is key to enhancing your graphics and bringing them to the next level.
I also suggest looking at references or examples of other GFXs that artists have made to get an idea of how they do lighting, editing, posing, etc. I’ve learned a lot by just looking at the techniques top GFX artists have used when making theirs. Watching tutorials can help a lot for starters on how to pose and use rigs.
Please be aware that creating good graphics takes time and experience. Your skills definitely have potential, so keep it up!
It’s pretty good! You can keep going with this theme speaking from the example you have sent, it looks like you haven’t done Typography work… You should practise text and typography. Also your lighting are amazing! But it can be better, also try adding a gloss.
I actually mainly do UI so I know how to do typography, just didn’t want to add it here since it takes more time and these were free haha! Thanks for the other feedback <3
