Feedback on small venice-inspired town for an rp game

hey guys i’ve been working my ### off lately with @LiterallyLaser and we finally finished this little town (still have to do the manor).

any and all feedback is appreciated.

here’s some screenshots!

lmk what you think!

(finished in the span of 3 days, using shadowmap because future’s shadows mess up all the lighting i’ve put in. some materials are custom such as concrete and sand, however most are old roblox materials due to me liking them better :smirk: )

Looks pretty cool so far! Only things that catched my eye right away are that it’s missing decorations (small flowers, little bit of “life”, more variation) and that there are, imo, way too much lamp posts. While the lighting looks great at night, maybe reduce the amount but make the lights brighter. You can also make lightning more creative like for example make it come out of windows, stores etc.

yea i set up the lights in a way that when it’s night time the rivers are lit up kind of like a runway. i see what you mean with the lights ill probably double the spacing.

still working on reducing volume of lights.
added trees and some small flowers here and there

How exactly did future lighting “mess up your shadows”?

I’d think this would only look better with future lighting on.

shadowmap

future

future is usually the better option however in this case i liked shadowmap better.

It looks more like you need to increase the light range and rely less on light wrapping around objects.

But I do have to agree in this scenario future does look too dim without any adjustments.

to me with my current lighting and ambience choices future doesn’t provide much benefit day time or night. if i put the extra work in to make it work in future mode it won’t really make a difference.

there’s a lot of games and situations where future makes it look AWESOME, which i know, but it’s not this time.
