Feedback on story and gameplay of DECODE_02 (Heavy WIP Horror Game)

Hey DevForum! I’ve decided to stray from my wholesome games such as Smoothie Blitz or Cleanup Crew, and make a horror game! It totally isn’t finished yet, so i need some feedback on the storyline, the pacing of cutscenes, dialogue text, etc.

I won’t spoil much, but the main plot is; The year is 2029, and you’ve signed up for a neurological study, where the doctor hooks your brain up to a machine using advanced technology. Eventually, you receive encrypted messages from an unknown source. If you want any secret endings, you’ll have to decode them. Take a look and tell me what you think! I haven’t made anything like this before.

Looks like richtext markup is bleeding through the typewriter effect, are you using MaxVisibleGraphemes?

im not using MaxVisibleGraphemes, ive heard from other posts that i should though. thanks!

I’m not too familiar with graphemes but it seems very efficient, I’ll also have to try it today/

I would recommend that the type writer should pause when on a period or coma

lol, everybody just has feedback on the typewriter effect. i’ll add that though!

done! looks much better now, but the typewriter sound is still playing for invisible characters when i use <br />. how can i prevent this?

I’d recommend splitting the string by nothing so you have a list of the characters in the string, then check if the string at the MaxVisibleGraphemes index from the list is a space or not. That is if I understand your issue.

do you guys think i should open the game to the public for testing?

first act (aka hospital room) is open, please read the first part of the description before playing! this is for people who enjoy playing the game rather than watching a video, or want to test for bugs themselves. thank you!

lighting looks bad in-game since it uses Unified Lighting studio beta

just wanna say this is discontinued for a better game with the same story, in a different location. thanks!
