Feedback on the beta version of my game

I would like some feedback on the beta version of my game.
it still has a decent amount of gameplay, but I just need some testing from the devform before I continue, so I can fix any bugs, or anything that looks bad.

1 rule for when replying to my post:
Please do not say “Simulator slop” or anything like that. it gives 0 feedback whatsoever.

New Game!!! i hope you like it

This game is for now nice, also keep going you do it well, but the problem is that i saw that the Gui and the Text within the Gui has an animation, so to keep it simpler the Textlabel didn’t match with the animation of the Container “Frame” it looks not to good when the animation goods triggered by an TextButton and has a bad EasingStyle, maybe the End-Pos of the frame should be more effective and smooth also for example from pos: {1, 0},{0.5, 0} to pos {0.5, 0},{0.5, 0}. Maybe.

Conclussion

Its awesome keep doing well made

thank you so much for feedback!
i think i might just rework the UI animations because I don’t think it looks to great either.

Thanks again!!

I think this game has great potential, but there were a few things that I noticed you might want to change.

  1. The main area is a bit bland and grey, adding color and more deco would be nice.

  2. Implement some sort of tutorial. I had no idea what I was doing at first and kind of just wandered around before finding the forest portal. Whether it be with beams or dialogue, a tutorial would really help.

  3. The enemy NPC system isn’t the best. They don’t chase you when you attack them and can still kill you once dead.

Other than those issues and the aforementioned UI I think with some more work this will be an amazing game!

It’s not too bad! However,

I’m not sure if this is intentional or not but some trees have this model glitch, you could try fixing it by turning on DoubleSided or you could watch this tutorial to fix your export glitching like that

Another thing is that the NPCs do not move whatsoever and I find it really difficult to hit them. I dont know if its because they’re anchored but make sure that nothing inside of them are anchored (Something like the HumanoidRootPart could completely stop them from moving altogether).

You could also try reworking some animations as I thought it looked a little silly seeing the bandits have their legs put through the floor every time they walked. (You could look into inverse kinematic Animations!)

And the last thing I found was that the dagger has no cooldown, so you could try implementing that to prevent people from just spam clicking and instakilling everything.

In conclusion though, I believe your game holds really good potential but there are areas that could be fixed. Hope all goes well with your game though!

Thank you for the feedback!

Im not a very good builder but i will look up some tutorials on how to make better buildings.

i am going to add the tutorial and the beams that you are talking about.

I think the reason they don’t follow you is because recently I used a command in the command bar to Anchor all parts, i must have left out the code to keep the enemies un anchored

I do want to mention again that this is beta testing and not an actual release for the game. I needed to make sure things worked properly before publishing (unlike my last game that we don’t talk about  )

thanks again for all the feedback!

I tried to make a cool effect with the trees like other games have, but I guess it did not work too well. I will fix this right now!

Yes, I think this is because of a command I used in the command bar. Whoops

i did not even notice this!

Thank you very much! this really helps out a lot!

Oh! with the trees if you’re aiming to do that, you can go into edit mode and just grab a vertice, and then drag it upwards.

i made a new tree model after you told me how to do this, and i would like your opinion on it.

note: The type of part i used for the leaves are not able to be loop cut, so thats why it is such a large area being moved upwards.

Edit again: i also fixed the Npcs

you forgot to put invisible walls in every area.

Ohh… Whoops

thank you for pointing that out!

It looks really good! you should try “Shade Auto Smooth”

.

Select all of your leaves and press CTRL + J and then Click on Object, and Shade Auto smooth, do the same for the tree trunk, it stops those lines around the sides from forming, and you can change the amount on the bottom left

Wow… this is the best looking tree i have EVER made!!

Alright… I’d want to start off with saying I don’t play a whole lot of simulator games so I’ll cut you some slack you cut me some slack BUT coming from a developers POV I won’t nit-pick the game itself as this isn’t primarily the genre I develop in I focus primarily in the Police RP and Factory Automation style games but lets get into it.

Note; I’ve got a 1440p monitor so that could be why I had a few UI related issues.

Suggestions

  • Add background music to spawn

  • The Quest UI has a lot of whitespaces on the sides and really big padding see if you are able to update that to utilize more of its parent frame.

  • Add a notification or something that alerts the user when they’ve completed a quest, when I first joined I just kind of walked about the main area for a few minutes trying to figure out what to do, that’s not entirely on you though that’s my fault BUT I was confused as to why I was earning coins until I checked my F9 panel and seen I earned coins from quest.

  • Add a return button when your at one of other places that let you return back to spawn without having to reset or die.

  • Name the shark with the sunglasses fred

Bugs

  • Loading screen UI isn’t centered

  • Character clothing / Skin Color doesn’t load on the main menu.

  • There’s a random X on my screen on the left side towards the top, clicking it on the main menu makes it disappear but if I don’t click it and load into game and try to click it then it won’t do anything.

  • The buttons on the left make a weird overlapping effect when clicked on, unsure if that’s intentional or not. I’m personally not a fan of it.

  • The dirt under the spawn island and the egg island has can-collide turned off so you can swim under it. Also, it has a bunch of parts under it the player won’t even see. You could delete all the inner dirt parts and only keep the ones surrounding the outer island

  • On the forest map there’s trees floating around the border and you can see the baseplate along certain parts of the walls. and spawn has a floating rock

  • NPCs with weapons still do damage to you even if they’re dead.

  • The Ultra coin NPC doesn’t die but shows the red damage effect when you hit him.

  • When you die/reset for the first time the Ultra coin UI doesn’t appear more but instead spams the swing sound effect a bunch of times.

  • UITweening isn’t consistent, the Pet UI appears out of no where with a subtle tween effect going up, the stats UI comes in from the upper left side of the screen, rewards & stats share that same effect, the shop tween has a different opening/closing effect depending on if you are closing the UI from the X or clicked on another UI to open.

  • Play button hover effect doesn’t tween from center but has the anchor point set to 0, 0 causing it to tween from the top left corner.

  • Data does not save/load, unsure if that is intentional or not.
