Feedback on throwing animation

Hello

I am still developing my game. Today I had to animate the throwing animation. It was made to be as if you are throwing it into a fountain.

Please review the footage below and tell me what you think. I tried to make it not total rubbish, but I’m still starting out

It seems kind of lackluster and static, innit? How should I change it?

Thank you for your assistance. :slightly_smiling_face:

You can try to select all of the keyframes (the diamonds), right click on them, select easing style, and set it to cubic. This will make the animation and its movements have a cubic interpolation, or in simpler words, make the movements have more life to them instead of a static robotic movement.

You can also along with that, set the easing direction to in-out. Having it as in or out may still give a static feel even with the cubic easing style. Hope this helps!

Also add some style to the guy. Like an idle pose while raising hand. If its like a realistic game in real life you dont just raise your hand you put your torso sideways. If the games more cartoony add like an idle based jojo pose while raising hand so it appeals to the player.

Hello and thank you for the reply :slightly_smiling_face:

Here’s the new animation, it looks much more charming, right?

Hello!

It is made to look more cartoony, which is what I have designed it around. I have played a bit of Roblox on my siblings accounts before making my own and making a game.

Cheers!

It does, but you should select all of the keyframes and make their easing direction in-out, to make it a bit more smooth. See if it is to your liking, because I think it would look better like that. :slightly_smiling_face:

Hello, :slightly_smiling_face:

I believe you may possibly be mistaken. I have already updated everything to be Inout. Please recheck my video. Thank you, cheers!

If you want the movement to look robotish then sure. I was just recommending adding more life to the animation so its soothing to look at then just an arm raise!

cubic is a good animator, but putting the easing style to inout is not a great idea, because instead of the hand throwing fast, it makes it look like he’s lifting something up and down. try using out on the key frame after the hand reaches the climax, because it will give it more of an impact.

also try to make it more impactful by moving some of the body more, like tilting when the rig is moving the hand up, and moving the torso when the rig is throwing.
