This looks pretty unprofessional and will probably not attract many clicks. You could improve it by sticking to a consistent art theme, and not using Canva for text, photopea has better options. However, for not being to experienced, there is nowhere to go but up!
It’s bad in the traditional sense of what makes a “good” thumbnail for a more serious project, but that’s not what the thumbnail is for. The game looks like a meme game, being titled as the game is. So, the thumbnail accurately depicts the nature of what you’re going for.
To contrast the feedback above me, I say there doesn’t need to be a style per-say when it comes to meme game thumbnails. The lack of a style is its own style. I would’ve said the typography needs work, but that’s part of the charm.
If you’d like the thumbnail to be more professional, while keeping that meme feel, I’d make the thumbnail have a freeze-frame of someone throwing poop at others. Ya know, showing off the gameplay.
Sadly, I can’t test out the game as it’s under review right now:
I dislike this.
In the nicest way possible:
I may sound rude but this is what I think
The art isn’t even good + the images of the game don’t look appealing.
What we’re you thinking when you made this?
It makes me unclick from your game and regret seeing it.
I fixed the currenty under review thingy. And why does everyone need to be this harsh? Its not meant to be that looking good? Do you really think it was gonna be a triple A game thats gonna compete with all the others? DO you really think that? And plus, i dont have the experience to make a good thumbnail, i used alot of my knowledge to make those thumbnails. Im still learning and trying my best to improve, reading stuff like “The art isn’t even good + the images of the game don’t look appealing.
What we’re you thinking when you made this?” really drains my motivation in even trying, like why are you comparing me to others or even yourself? What were YOU thinking by writing that? That i would be a pro in creating thumbnails now or what? And i know that critisism isnt always that bad, sometimes its needed. Maybe tell me HOW to improve or WHAT to add instead of "It makes me unclick from your game and regret seeing it. " u could also say nothing? But thanks for reading if u did.
Thanks for the response. On a serious note, I hope my feedback didn’t come off as harsh. I urge that you keep trying and grow as a creator. Finding motivation can be tough, so I hope this comment helps you a bit.
For improving thumbnails, I recommend looking into the following:
I hadn’t considered this too much, but learning about photography really is a great way to improve thumbnails. I’ll look into more myself.
Again, hope that helps and best of luck on things.
Thank you for giving me adivce that actually is somewhat worthy instead of acting like a total badass, thinking like the best artist ever to live and draining hate on someone lower than them. Thank you.
When you ask for feedback don’t get mad after receiving it.
But here’s my feedback:
T̶h̶e̶ ̶i̶m̶a̶g̶e̶s̶ ̶a̶r̶e̶ ̶f̶u̶c̶k̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶h̶o̶r̶r̶i̶b̶l̶e̶
The images are not exactly appealing to the eyes, consider sticking to a single art style (Don’t mix emojis with pictures from fortnite and hand drawn memes).
T̶h̶e̶ ̶t̶e̶x̶t̶ ̶i̶s̶ ̶a̶b̶s̶o̶l̶u̶t̶e̶ ̶g̶a̶r̶b̶a̶g̶e̶
Consider using a different font and not going overkill on the neon/glow effect.
T̶h̶e̶ ̶b̶a̶c̶k̶g̶r̶o̶u̶n̶d̶ ̶i̶s̶ ̶s̶h̶i̶t̶
Make the background contain people throwing poop at each other or whatever the theme of the game is.
It’s easier to give feedback when using words that aren’t polite (imo).
Okay, i will try making a different thumbnail for the game using the tips you all gave me.
“It’s easier to give feedback when using words that aren’t polite (imo).”
Okay, but in this context, saying “T̶h̶e̶ ̶b̶a̶c̶k̶g̶r̶o̶u̶n̶d̶ ̶i̶s̶ ̶s̶h̶i̶t̶” Doesnt tell me what is shit ab the background.
“When you ask for feedback don’t get mad after receiving it.” Wasnt mad, i was more dissapointed by reading: “The art isn’t even good + the images of the game don’t look appealing.
What we’re you thinking when you made this?
It makes me unclick from your game and regret seeing it.”.
But after saying that, what app can i use? I currently use canva, as its more appealing to me and is easier to use than other ones ive tried.
But thank you and i will try a different aproach .
Usually it means that the whole thing is bad and should be changed, but I can understand what you meant.
For icons and thumbnails I personally use Photoshop, but it’s very expensive (obviously you could do that one “thing”) you could use Photopea if you want something free and obviously you would improve the longer you use it for.
Okay thanks, i will try use photopea, may i ask why you dont recommend canva even tho u never stated it?
I will do the thumbnail after i fixed my game first (bug fixes and optimization).
Canva is just not as powerful and can’t do that much, whereas Photopea is pretty much just Photoshop, but lighter.
Went straight into photopea and made something.
Here is the end result:
I would like to give you my opinion about it. First of all, I want to say that I appreciate your effort in creating a thumbnail for your game. However, I believe that there are some aspects that could be improved to attract more attention and generate more clicks.
Firstly, I noticed that the drawings in the thumbnail have different styles. I suggest that you try to maintain a consistent style in the graphic elements to make it look more professional and appealing. Additionally, the font you chose looks a bit strange and doesn’t match the game’s theme well. I would recommend exploring other font options that better align with the style and atmosphere you want to convey.
I encourage you to dedicate a bit more time to the design of the thumbnail and consider polishing these aspects for better results.
Keep working hard and don’t get discouraged! I’m sure that with some improvements, your thumbnail will attract more people’s attention and increase the chances of success for your game.
These thumbnails look good! They’re weird, but they’re alright.
