Feedback on Tophats

I recently (two days ago) began learning to use Blender for 3D modeling, and I made a few variations on tophats (these are of my own design). While they aren’t much, I’d love to get some feedback on the three different variations that I’ve made, such as:

  • Which hat looks the best
  • How I could improve the hats
  • What I could add to the hats
  • Just for fun: Would you wear any of these on your avatar?

Low Poly

Rounded/Beveled

High(er) Poly

All three hats look good but I feel that the top is a little too open but has a good design

Shade smooth it to get rid of the edge lines that appear. It’ll allow you to use less polys for a more smoother look.

Thanks for the feedback @XxEvilCraftxX and @3rdhoan123

This is intentional . It is my attempt at trying to make it look a little cartoony.

Here’s what the low poly hat looks like with smooth shading (I had to adjust the lighting to make it look less shiny):

I like the way the hat looks with flat shading, however, it ends up making the band look different. Any suggestions for how to make the band look normal?

Go to the side tabs and look for an option that has auto normals or auto smoothing (something similar to that, forgot the tab name) then change the angle as neccessary

I was able to find it, thanks for the tip! This definitely improves the flat-shaded version:

EDIT: It also makes the rounded tophat look great!

They all look pretty good, personally, I like the one that’s “High(er) Poly” the most. The “Rounded/Beveled” one looks kinda weird as I rarely see top hats with a rounded bottom part on Roblox.

Hey, personally out of all three I believe that the high poly hat looks the best as the lines are absent unlike the low poly one where it simply looks a little bit too bricky for my taste.
