This is my first feedback post, and I’m starting to get back into building on Roblox after being gone for 2 years (and trust me, my builds back then were BAD!) and I’m pretty proud of myself with what I achieved but I feel it is lacking many features but I do not know what. Any feedback would be appreciated!
I’m trying to build semi-realistic game, with some downtown areas being low detail and forestry/park areas being realistic (which I will begin on working soon, but can not find any resources to learn how to make realistic/mesh trees like seen in many showcases! Any help would also be appreciated here.)
It’s awesome to see old users returning, especially considering roblox’s vast growth more recently. I’m not an amazing builder, but I’ll do my best to give some advice.
Personally, I really like the inside as it looks nice and realistic, but perhaps more furniture would be nice. The lighting effect under the wood really brings a nice atmosphere.
From the outside it looks a bit plain and boring, I recommend changing the window styles perhaps, or adding more textures rather than brick like ones.
Overall I think it is a nice build for someone who has just returned, and I hope I could help in some way.
Roblox is a growing platform, which has a huge Developer Community, which is also growing every single year.
It’s really nice to see that you’re returning.
Now to your work. Overall, it hits the theme and looks nice, it lacks a lot of detail though.
You can add more shelves to the store, tables or baskets with all kinds of stuff. Fruits, drinks etc, etc. Maybe a fire extinguisher as well, but that’s up to you!
The street could need some trees perhaps, for example those ‘‘side walk trees’’ that make the city greener.
I really think that the interior design is well done, but things could be added, like lights, vents, and power outlets maybe? Just small details that could really make the game more interesting.
As for the street view, it is really bland. Only a few things going on, the walls are the same color and material and there are a few flags but they stick out too much. I suggest adding more detail overall with everything to make it feel more real.
Thanks for the ideas! I’m terrible with making trees and those “realistic” ones you see in most showcases, and may go to using some free model ones until I learn to make them as I plan on doing so in future. Do you know any resources I could use to learn?
The interior looks awesome, I would never be able to pull off those color choices. On the exterior however, I recommend adding some more detailed windows and maybe make half of the wall a different colored brick with a trim.
I’ve never worked with realistic lighting or models, but probably should make something like that.
Free models are a good start, just gotta be cautious and aware, that if you do use free models, you should overshadow them with things you built or modeled by yourself. But you already did, so a few free model trees are fine in my opinion, the toolbox’s there for people to help, y’know.
I’ve used a few free model trees and tried to change the scaling and rotation to spice it up. I made the pot/area they sit in and used some textures I found for the grass!
You could put trims under and on top of the windows, on top of the window you can add the line separators (I don’t know what they are called)
You could add Planters beneath the windows as well.
i think some lighting after you’ve completed more of the builds could really bring some more atmosphere to your place - i suggest using shadowmap lighting
