Feedback + Question

Hey there!

So I’ve been busy the past two months creating my own first game. I chose to make a more modern version of an obby. I know, a bit of an easy one, but I don’t really have a lot of experience in any way, so I figured to give this a try.

Everything in this game is completely made by me. I’ve tried my best and I’m mostly happy with my work.

So I’m planning to monetize the game, I’ve been saving up 2K Robux to invest in my game.

So here are my two questions:

Are there any improvements I can make to my game?
How should I spend my 2K? On ads or sponsoring?

I noticed a few things with the obby that I think you should work on:

  • “Obby” is misspelled as “Obbey” in the title. This may have been intentional, but it could also make discovery more difficult.
  • You should automatically teleport players to the stage they were at when they die, since opening up the menu to teleport constantly could get tedious. You could add a separate “To Lobby” button on the screen if players want to go back to the lobby.
  • When you complete an obby, you’re presented with a prompt asking whether you want to continue or go back to the lobby. There isn’t really any indication by the game when you’re hovering over a button; it might be a good idea to make the button get darker or make your mouse icon change when you hover over it to better indicate that the buttons are clickable.
  • In the cookie obby, the cookie jumps act as tools, meaning you pick them up and get stuck when you try to jump over them. You should probably take the handles out of the tools to prevent this behaviour.

Besides that, I’m not sure whether this game is supposed to be a finite obby that you can finish for good or whether you’re looking to constantly add new challenges to make sure players never run out of things to do. The game is decent for the former, but if you’re going for the latter, you might look into adding randomly generated or player created obbies to keep the content flowing.

GUI

Gui looks pretty empty, you can agree that using light blue for buttons and gray for background doesn’t look too good. Nothing happends when you try teleporting to any zone you haven’t reached yet, leaving players confused.

Paywall

When you join the game for the first time, you can already see a shop GUI on your screen and a board in the lobby (I dont even know why you need it (lobby)). Half of your obbies are locked for VIP/Premium pack.

Gameplay

After running around for a couple of minutes and finally realizing how to play the game, you start your first obby. Finish part is pretty delayed for some reason (I had avg. 60 ping) with delay of ~1 second

The general idea of the game is for people to go over different themes of obby stages, once you have completed all stages you have an option to “rebirth” basically reset your progress and start over again. It’s also the intention to keep updating the game with new stages and content.

What would you advise if I took all your feedback and improved the game, would it be a good idea to advertise or sponsor it with a 2K budget?

Thanks for the reply! I have changed the GUI, for the paywall: the obbies are evenly distributed, 8 free, 8 for gamepasses. This is mostly to finance it and hopefully make a good investment.

Another question:
What would you advise to do with 2K robux, advertise or sponsor?

That makes more sense. If you’re pretty content staying with the obbies you’ve already created but still want to create something engaging, you could look for ways to gameify the system such as allowing players to win cosmetics or adding leaderboards for fastest times and/or total completions. There are a lot of ways you could take this.

Unfortunately I haven’t really advertised my own games before so I don’t have a good grasp on how to get your game out there; I’m just speaking out of what I’d want to see as a player of your game.
