From the same poorly named group (Rename Pending) that brought you “Cart Ride to Grandfather’s Funeral,” we now present The Final Guess—a game where teamwork and perseverance are key to victory.
The concept is straightforward:
Guess the randomly generated 4-digit code. If you guess correctly, the door opens, and you escape. But guess wrong, and you’ll face permanent death in that server.
Dev Note: This game may have some bugs since I challenged myself with a 40 minute time limit, but it for the most part does work.
I really like the concept, definitely feels like something that could go viral.
The building is nice and character controller is good.
I think you should try upping the player count per server though, 10 feels too low,
Also, maybe try taking inspiration from wordle? So if I guessed 1234 and the real code was 3267, the 2 would light up green indicating that its in the correct spot, and the 3 would light up orange indicating that theres a three in some other spot, and finally, the 1 and 4 wouldn’t be lit up.
That way, a players sacrifice can be a bit more informative. As it stands, if I guess a number, I’ve only eliminated 1/10000 of the possible combinations. Feels sort of impossible.
Maybe the wordle thing would make the game too easy though.
I think it would be an interesting game to market if executed correctly. The only thing I’d say is that the atmosphere feels too dark (metaphorically and literally) for something that I would see hundreds of thousands of players playing.
I agree that there should be a higher server size, though. 10 doesn’t feel like that much if you’re playing a game where there’s only one thing to do and doing it wrong will get you banned from that server. However I understand that lower server sizes mean more chances for one player (as there’s more servers to guess in).
I agree with this statement, I do think there should be some sort of hinting system, but a wordle-style guessing game would be far too easy for a game with such a severe punishment.
