[FEEDBACK] Scythe Build

  • I am just looking for criticism and tips, I do not build much.
*Should I scale it down some more? Does it still look to big?

Comparing the size with real-life reference images, the scale looks about right for an in-game model.

However, if you are using that model as a tool for a player to use (For harvesting for example), then I suggest scaling it down by 20 - 40%; otherwise, it would look excessively big when the player is holding it.

Hows this look?

I plan on using at as a ingame weapon for a original character.
But this is probably a better look at the size.

If the model is going to be used as a weapon, that scale looks just about perfect. :+1:

thank you very much for your input, is there a way to edit a models weight out of curiosity?
if so probably be best to make it light as a feather lol.

I do not have much experience with the weight property; since I don’t see it under a group model’s properties, I would have to see you must select all the parts inside the group model and set the weight from the parts themselves.

I selected all the parts and clicked massless, that sounds like it should work.

It looks great the design of it is pretty nice, however I recommend to add detail on the sharp Scythe itself. Like the handle is kinda plain in my opinion, I’ll try adding bits of details here and there to get the full design or you could use a couple of reference images to help you out a bit. I’d take inspiration from other scythe weapons online or the ones that people made, you don’t need to add much detail to it but the handle could use some work.

That being said, this is a great start keep improving!

Thankyou for the input can you tell the white part is a grip? Also any recommendations on details to add?

the scythe looks amazing, I just think you should make the top of the sword curve a lit

Looks a little to large for Scythes and Reapers make try using blender I found this really cool YouTube video on how to use blender to make a sweet looking reaper. No offense it’s kind of blocky and this video should help smooth it over and get a more professional look. Best of luck, John.

i think that it should curve more, like a crescent shape in my opinion. if it’s going to be used as a weapon, it looks like it would be kind of awkward to use.

otherwise looking good ^

The color and scale of the scythe looks pretty nice, but it’s also too “blocky.”

Well, it likely depends if you’re going for a simple design I’ll just add some small details onto it. The only thing I see that could be improved is adding some textures or sharp parts connected, to the handle instead of having it look all plain you could get an idea in the image below that could help you a bit.

I have no clue how they do any of that lol, I am just trying to get a scythe made so I can script it to do stuff lol.

Hey there.

I really like the design overall. I highly suggest making these types of things in blender. Were curving and smoothing is a lot easier with making pieces fitting more together. Great Job!

I did attempt to make the blade look a bit better as you can see here

But I believe ill be moving on now since I am not good with blender this is probably as good as its going to get, thanks everyone for your input and help!
