Hey, so this project took 4 days. Basically in short I was trying to recreate Maarten Hof’s Shabby Alleyway which is a 3D art piece. I am mainly using parts, uploaded textures/decals and a few open source meshes.
This project is currently on hold because I’m working on some other projects, I do plan on revisiting this showcase in the future. Also I should mention the game features a locked camera that switches based on which area you are in credit to my friend Kolbias for helping me out with that
If anyone has any good ideas/suggestions or could share some of their own techniques, let me know! Feedback is much appreciated!
Looks amazing, maybe add some dripping pipes with particles. This can give it a cool aesthetic, or make it rain. Mess around with the lighting a bit. It seems to bright with all the fog around. Overall, looks good!
I was considering adding rain in the final build, in the reference image the ground is wet and mucky. Do you know any way to make it appear as if the ground has some water on it, preferably without terrain water?
Maybe add some smoke coming from drains, and some trash cans. Really like the use of the beam effect coming from the door. You have used some textures which really stand out. The graffiti on the wall, the building walls, the textures really make them stand out. Really like the use of meshes for the scattered litter on the floor too! Great work.
For the light coming out of the doorway, I just used some yellow bricks that were neon, unioned them and set it on .98 transparency! My lighting is set to voxel
I redid the whole post, if anyone has any constructive feedback and/or suggestions please post them below. I’m sure I’ll revisit this project to polish and extend the map further + some interactive things to do
Quick note: 75% of the textures I used in the old images were replaced with new ones to fit in with the atmosphere more, all around everything was polished besides some placeholders
@Zynkuru@sayhisam1 Thank you guys, and I was thinking about using transparent parts with decals as “puddles”. Since the showcase has a locked camera I could take advantage of that and just open a screenshot of the locked camera view in paintnet, reflect the image exactly onto the part I want to be the “water reflection”
