[FEEDBACK] Urbex Asylum Redux

Hi all!
MTPDust has just released Urbex Asylum Redux, a game I script.
I’m the co-founder of MTPDust, founded with misstansyp and we’ve just released Urbex Asylum Redux.

It’s a total rework of our first game, which was very laggy and buggy, we hope this one is much more enjoyable!

It’s my first time posting here, I’m looking for feedback on the building and overall gameplay of it!

Here’s some screenshots:

Thank you all!

Overall I didn’t really enjoy playing this game, this seems kind of mean but the whole thing really needs some work.

EDIT: I just wanted to note, I only played for like 20 minutes, and there was a few other people online in the game. Although my intentions were to play solo, someone did follow me and it was enjoyable to play with a random person because they weren’t in the way of anything.

Pictures

Before I get into the pictures, I wandered around the base camp area and talked to women near the entrance to the camp. She tells me about a guy in a suit gives us these ghost catching devices. So a little bit of mystery is alright but one question I had was why am I here? There seems to be a little bit of story in this game, but it doesn’t tell me how I got here and why. Also of note the GUI looks mediocre and average and could use some work.

On to the pictures, when I got the front gate, I noticed the sign and its condition compared to the gate. The gate is rusted and corroded, mean while the sign looks to be in pristine condition. Also the texture on the path looks stretched and it looks like a decal was pasted on.

So I got to the actual entrance of the asylum, and there was someone else there and this NPC was attacking him. I thought, is this the man and the suit or a ghost? Didn’t he want to talk to me? But it turns out this NPC is aggressive and attacks you, the ghost device doesn’t work on it, so what am I suppose to do? In the picture, the NPC gets stuck on a boundary that the NPC isn’t suppose to go past. I find this to kind of ruin the experience, maybe have it walk away or something instead of having it try to go past the invisible boundary. After a minute, it disappears.

So I walk into the lobby area, and it looks alright, the lighting is good for the theme of the game. But, it has no detail, one of the reasons this is the case is the room is so gosh darn big. In fact most of the rooms and hallways are too big and should be scaled down some.

When playing this game I realized something, this game should be played and only played in first person. Zooming out really kills the environment in this game, so it should be set to only be able to view in first person. I also found a bug with the flash light, where it sometimes doesn’t point where your cursor is pointing.

In order to keep this short I’m going to list a view other things

  • The ghost capturing is kind of boring, it is point, click, and capture.
  • Sounds are alright
  • No real direction that I’m suppose to be going and/or motivation to do it. I kind of get bored after half an hour or so.
  • Environment looks great at some points, and bad at others.

But there is a few things I like about this

  • The health system - You have to manage your health carefully, because if you lose it, you can’t regenerate it back. Makes you on edge and be careful.
  • The lighting is great in some places, especially in the main lobby.

So in conclusion, this game needs some work, I suggest finding another person to help you out and give another set of eyes on things. I really hope this helps you improve the game because it has potential to be something, it just needs some love in certain areas.
