Hi! I’m sepro1144, and I got Builders Club yesterday. I have already made a couple shirts, and even made pants for one person. Anyways, I’m looking for feedback on these shirts and pants I’ve done
I’m not a clothing designer but your work can use some improvements.
For example, some people use textures, shading, etc. I would go on YouTube and search videos on how to do it correctly. The more you practice and research the better you’ll get.
I fully agree, the fact that it’s so well painted makes me kind of emotional. Price is worth it, since it’s not only a shirt. It’s a full experience… I hope OP makes more of those and raise prices too.
(Not sarcasm, I just support newer developers, while it’s true you shouldn’t do random lines of colors for clothing, there are plenty of tutorials on YouTube if you want tips though.)
So what you guys are all saying is that these designs are great, and are worth the prices they are set at? Please correct me if I’m wrong, because this is the first good feedback I’ve gotten on all the assets I’ve put up!
Um, this sounds kind of sarcastic. I mean, if you really love random lines of pink, green, blue, and red and would like the price to be raised, thats fine. Just some thoughts…
If you actually want advice @sepro1144, here, I will give you some. Like all your other art, it needs a lot more work. You want to have some quality before you sell stuff.
For the record, I agree with @PancakelsHim on this one. I think @Place_Reboot was being sarcastic (which isn’t really appropriate in this setting) - while your work is nice for a beginner, it needs a lot of work. This isn’t the first piece of art or other assets I’ve noticed from your studio that seems rushed and not aesthetic.
Instead of spending 30 minutes on three shirts, you should spend 3 days on one shirt and make it look really good. As mentioned above, I suggest you look through YouTube tutorials and other resources to hone your skills and techniques.
From a person who has tested your game lengthily, I think you and your partners have a recurring problem with rushing assets. While it’s nice to crank out a huge update in a day, it is better to spend that day on one model - making it look good and building your skills. When you work long enough making detailed shirts and models, you’ll find you can quickly crank out decent work.
Furthermore, I suggest that you pick one or two aspects of development and focus in on them. Switching from learning Blender to Studio building to Art apps is a sure way to delay your learning progress in each. You would be better off being an advanced builder who hires a clothing designer than somebody who is sub-par at each aspect.
While you may feel dejected after the excessive amounts of negative feedback you have been receiving on posts, I suggest that you keep on trying - success is achieved through trying and you certainly are a hard worker. Please take the advice we give you as it is for the best - I certainly look forward to more posts from you with better and better assets!
Thanks for the feedback! I have decided that I’m going to focus more on graphic design than building, since the shirts/pants actually got sales, unlike my builds. I find negative feedback as more of critiques, and appreciate the people who are willing to give it. As for things I’ve done with my game, this post doesn’t have anything to do with the game. This is just freelance designing, except for the UNexus Studios shirt. I will definitely take your advice and watch YouTube tutorials, and spend more than 30 mins on one design. I’m not gonna mark this as the solution, because I’m just looking for feedback at the moment, if you know what I mean? I was watching a YouTube video when I got the notification about your post. Based on what my devs have been making, I think I’ll leave the building to them.
I thank and appreciate your advice and critiques, and will put them into play!
That’s not how DevForum works. You make a post and you expect critique.
Being a clothing maker myself, this is very substandard in general. However, as you’re only experimenting with clothing, such can be expected. Attempt to introduce actual styles of clothing into your outfits – coats, arms, sleeves, etc. I recommend using PDN (www.getpaint.net) for your image editing software as it is much more reliable than MS Paint.
Once again get good at one thing, then start doing others, if u spend a day on each topic of development you will not get anywhere. Just stick down and find what your good at
Not a day, if you want to get good you have to fully commit to what you want to do, you wanna be a clothing designer? Then spend the next month or two only learning clothing design.
