Basically, I thought I’d try to dabble in rendering ROBLOX rigs in Blender today. It was so much of a hassle to set up everything but from there but I finally got it to work and did my best.
I thought having a gun would seem like a good start for me because I thought it’d be nice to experiment with the various styles of poses and stances.
One main problem I encountered that I didn’t even bother to fix since I was so overwhelmed already, was that clearly I was having lighting issues I tried to see if there were any lighting options anywhere and ended up nowhere. Though it was getting late so I decided to forget about it and I was interested in feedback and hopeful that someone could help me with the lighting.
I highly appreciate any strong criticism, help, and feedback given. I’m sorry you had to witness such an atrocious render.
Thanks for taking the time to read and give your feedback on this!
I think this is an excellent first attempt! I’m not all too familiar with blender, so I can’t help you in that department, but I would advise using R15 when your character is holding items or doing complicated poses. I think it tends to make the photos a little bit more “natural” and not so bendy with R6. It also looks like the legs aren’t connected to the player too?
Please let me know if you find any lighting fixes! I accidentally updated my blender from 7.9 to 8.2 and it’s completely different; I could have looked into changes beforehand. Needless to say, I can’t seem to figure out how to fix lighting. In previous versions, I was able to change environmental lighting but in the new version, I believe you may need a light source.
Edit: Apologies, Crossota. Didn’t mean to tag you!
You’ve gone ahead and rendered your character without using any lighting. What method of lighting have you tried incorporating into your scene? The most common methods are either lamps (3 point lighting works best) or HDRIs.
It seems that you may need some HDRi lighting. I suggesting hdrihaven.com and downloading one of their HDRIs. To apply the HDRI you simple go the world tab settings, click the white circle next to colour and select environment texture. Thereafter you can locate the hdri you’ve just downloaded and apply it. If this is still unclear feel free to reply.
