Hello! I have been working on a map for an upcoming game im working on.
I wanted to know If terrain would look better or should I stick to the way im doing it now with just making the grass and rocks with parts. Heres a picture, let me know if you want to see more pics of the map or stuff.
It’s very nice, I love how you tilted the fences the only thing that doesn’t look good is the tree. It looks a bit weird having moss hanging out of it. I think the cylinder is also too big and the tree is too short. I would recommend adding a couple bumps using parts to union it. Anything other than that it’s pretty nice
In my opinion I think it looks better with how you’re currently doing it (grass parts, etc). It looks way more unique and interesting that way. Personally I don’t really like terrain as it can cause FPS issues (if not used properly) and I don’t think it would look that nice with your current theme.
However, I do encourage you add terrain to the current build and see if you like how it looks. Other than that it looks great!
Yeah I was having trouble with the tree and was trying to figure out how I can make it look more natural and not just some leaves on a cylinder. Do you maybe have a example that I could go off of? because im really having trouble with it
I do not make trees but if you want a more realistic looking tree you would use decals for trees and put them on individual branches (of course not like every single one but just about 10 or so branches) You would also make a tree trunk in blender or on any developing software. Add some shape and imperfections to it. You can use the roblox textures but would look much more like bark with your own texture. I usually just use free model trees because I don’t find anything wrong with it. The only free models I use are just for scenery.
I see what you mean but then again im not trying to make a showcase or anything so I dont want it to be too realistic it also wont really go with the theme. Im trying to make the tree out of parts but with high detail without being realistic, sorta like murder mystery 2 maps that kinda style.
You can just get a tree trunk with slightly less details and use the roblox texture. I think the decals for the tree would fit the theme. If you want even less details you could just have it like low poly trees where the leaves are just one solid part with some details on them to indicate as leaves. You could have the roblox grass texture on them to fit the style.
This really depends on what game your creating and the theme of it, I think the blocky approach looks fine if it matches the game style and theme, however it’s quite simplistic, but if it fits the game I’ll try at least throwing a handful of items around it such bushes, sticks, and pieces of parts of the floor.
The build lacks those overall details do you kind explaining what your creating? Since your going for that sort of cave theme look, try experimenting into adding cracks through out the cave and rock approach. Perhaps stick with the style your going for since it seems related to a old theme without much information in the thread there isn’t much that be provided
Otherwise, it’s a good start, if you feel like it needs to be improved and it doesn’t look good to you try experimenting with actual terrain and see how it looks with the theme your trying to achieve out of this.
Im gonna be honest, I started this last week and I dont know much about what im doing with it but Im trying to make a old jungle rpg game with my friend. Heres a pic of a road I started making (I know it doesnt have enough detail yet)
I also dont want to make a whole map out of terrain because that could cause a lot of lag from what I heard. Im trying to go for the same kinda style mm2 maps have, detailed but with parts only
