"Fill each server as full as possible" not working

My group uses a universe that is made up of multiple places that we do events on. Filling each server to the maximum is necessary so that all our members can play together. Recently, many of our players have been getting sent to new servers, rather than pre existing ones, despite the max players being set to 50 and “Fill each server as full as possible” being selected for every place. For example, we would have 12 players in a server, but sometimes when another players joins, they get sent into a new server. Anything I can do to fix?

I’d suggest putting this in #platform-feedback:engine-bugs rather than Game Design Support, as this may be a bug and not intentional.

This is a intended feature for Roblox to try and make their games better, the code decides where to send said player. The code counters facts like ping, friends, current ammount of players things like that.

Then why even have it as a feature. Sorry for the age old reply but this is still a pathetic problem to have.
…I literally can’t even tell if the FILL EACH SURVER AS FULL AS POSSIBLE even functions.

How sad is that? “ping” or other factors be damned - When I have a game with social game minimal action that can support say, a 99 player server, and I have 4 different servers with 10 players each on them, Roblox has failed.

I don’t care if the player has 900 ping, it is obvious the FILL setting was designed to avoid roblox’s “optimizing” of server fill. That’s why there’s "Roblox optimizes server fill for me " and “Fill each server as full as possible” separated.

If Roblox applies extremely limiting optimizations even when the fill option is selected, what’s the point?

The warning “Choosing this option will cause you to lose out on engagement time and Robux earned.” appears if you choose this. Oh really, Roblox? Because currently I am losing that BECAUSE in a game designed around large playerbases, Roblox literally screwing me over by producing numerous servers with fragments of players.

I have had to manually shut down over 20 servers to make sure the “main” server doesn’t get completely starved of players due to distribution.

This option makes launching any player-reliant game over 10 or so players nearly impossible.
Have game you want to be massively multiplayer? Maybe an MMO? Some social game?
Congrats, better make it work on ~`10 players, because Roblox will try it’s hardest to prevent players from accumulating in any real amount.

Yeah sure. If I had literally 500+ players in my game, I’m sure Roblox would probably, even in it’s barely-competent player sorting ways, manage to fill at least a single server or two.

But as it currently stands, the option to fill servers as much as possible is either Bugged, or a complete lie. Because it does not function. It starves server growth. How are you ever to get a playerbase if Roblox will not even let you group that playerbase up if you please? I’m the dev, I know what my game wants. I know what my game operates best at. Adhere to how I wish to fill it, please.

Also, I hate it when people re-direct us to the bug forums.

Y’all ever realize maybe we post problems in the wrong places because we literally can’t post it in the bug section ???

You have to be a “Regular”, AKA, if you aren’t a “forumer” you aren’t going to be allowed there. I’m not sure what the requirements are but they’re high enough that if you aren’t actively engaged in the community you are entirely barred from posting bug.

The people who code a majority of Roblox’s games are not necessarily “le social forumer” types, which is just sad. This whole thing is sad. Another feature that does ??? who knows that will be pushed under the rug.

Fill my damn servers, Roblox. If you can’t even water one plant, don’t go buy 4 more.

Edit: Roblox literally killing my game.
First this. I shut down the smaller server - this usually works, as players rejoin into the old one.
It’s better than letting the server remain - This is “off time”, so that 3 populated server won’t ever grow to something even remotely worth playing. So the only viable option is to send them to the bigger one, right?

But then. Literally 5 minutes later. It does it again. Can you honestly tell me that if the 5 players who ended up wrongly put in an entirely empty server, and instead put in the bigger one, we wouldn’t have better retention? Every single player that joins that “empty” server is a wasted player. It is wasted ad money, it is a wasted server - It’s effectively second-hand, empty. It should not exist.

Roblox saw a near-empty server. With “FILL AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE” set. And went…
nah lol lets make another server for just 2 people. Yeah that’s good.

This is not acceptable. The 2-5 people in the “extra” server go "wow this game sucks, there’s nobody here" and leave, *entirely due to roblox. Through no issue of my own - there ARE players roblox just WON’T LET THEM INTERACT.

This is bad for both servers.
This is not limited to “super small” player counts like this. My game peaked at 50 players and I still saw multiple ~10 player servers spawned to the side, which usually died somewhat quickly due to lack of players.

Roblox having this function not work as it’s described is causing a catastrophic player collapse in my game. I should be focusing on ads to get more players, but instead I’m focusing on ads to compensate for sheer loss of players due to Roblox.

I promise you if during the periods that I see 1 server with 15 players and 3 other servers with ~5-10 players, I am not “losing money” as Roblox implies by having Fill turned on.

On the contrary, Roblox is losing ME money. Not vice versa.

Let me make that perfectly clear before some moderator comes around and goes “Oh, this guy who can’t physically bug report had to reply to an old post not even in bug reports, because we forced him to not be able to make bug reports? Time to delete!”. Everything currently here - From the option not doing what it literally says it does, to this and many other bug reports being wrongly filed, to the fact I’m posting this here today, is all the continuation of long-standing Roblox issues.

I am having this same issue. My game has started to become popular and I’m getting several complaints of people getting sent to different servers when 20/50 people are in another of the same place. Is there any update on this?
