I’m getting frustrated and also scared out of my mind that my entire game is on the verge of being destroyed. As you can see in the image above whenever I do “ctrl+F” to find a term, it highlights values that do not correspond at all with what I typed. For example, in this OverheadGUI script, I search up “Guest” and “CloneGuiOnwer” is highlighted, while “Guest” values are not. The script is completely broken and it’s bugging like crazy.
This is not the only script that this has happened to. This as well happen to my door scripts, gamepass scripts, and now my OverheadGUI.
I’ve fixed the issue by deleting the highlighted items, and retyping them exactly how they were before, and problem is solved. But, it has been getting contiuously worse, where larger and more crucial scripts are being corrupted and glitched. Even more afraid that things are going to break during launch day tomorrow (this problem just came up and the release day is tomorrow, go figure).
Update: Music scripts are broken to now. I don’t understand. There are no malicious plugins installed, I’ve done “ctrl+shift+F” to find statements that could possibly be plugging external scripts into the game. I’m very confused right now.
Listen, I’m not a programmer, but I have some advice.
Refrain from using free models, only use them rarely. If you do use models, then I suggest checking it entirely before running.
If your release date is tomorrow, I suggest delaying it. It is better to finish work late and have it bugless, than to finish early and have rushed work and fear that the game may crash.
They should be uninstalled. I uninstalled the a lot of the sketchy ones nearly a month ago. They still show up as “item owned” on the Roblox website though.
I don’t use free models often, especially rare in this game. I’ve checked to make sure none have scripts, I’ve checked every line of code if they do have a script.
I have recently played around with that model before in a testing place to see if it’s safe. I came to the conclusion that the model is safe, however, if you edit the datastore service of the model, it will completely break datastores and some other things permanently, even after deleting the model. The only way I was able to see and fix the issue was by creating another place without the model and publishing it onto the other place. I do not think the original owner of the model intended for it to happen, but as of right now, I do not recommend anyone getting it.
Checking the plugins from @LikeWaterOk 's reply, I spotted what seems to be the culprit for the damages possibly done. One of the Resize Plugin is created by one of the well known imposters when it comes to plugins. “Creator Studios” In the future, if you see a plugin that is created by that group, DON’T USE IT. Also, the plugin that is Content Deleted seems suspicious.
I’m assuming you’re talking about the OverheadGUI from Twinz? I’ve been diving deeper into all the scripts and the leaderboard from the model. The donation board is prone to breaking your game in more ways than you know how if you try to tinker with it, and to my dismay, I have attempted to tinker with it in the past, but that was nearly a week ago, and all those issues have been resolved.
I think I’ve found a “temporary” fix to the issue. I’ve been saving some of the scripts to my computer files, and then reuploading them into the game. It’s magic, but it seems to be working. I still don’t know for sure if this is a studio bug or a virus.
