Hello, I have recently finished a revamp of my old project with a little bit more polish called “Find the Button”. Yes, I hear what you are thinking, give me a moment to explain. My goal is to differentiate from others with a simple style. I am just aiming to make something, anyone can enjoy, no microtransactions.
The game in its current form lasts about 2-3 minutes, and serves as more of a proof of concept.
Not a bad game honestly, it was quite fun to play but I feel like it could be improved.
First of all, remove the camera shake when changing level. It gives me nausea.
Second, the game is too easy. The buttons are in plane sight. Make it harder.
Third, the game is themed to be retro yet you are using modern elements. Try using the materials prior to 2022 and use R6 player model which would better fit the theme of the game…
Forth, add a black frame to hide the level changing. Or maybe make the maps in a closed space and a portal would appear when you press the button, going through it would cause you to teleport to the next level.
I will try to be more creative with hiding the buttons, sadly requires quite a bit of effort.
We are not neccesarily going for a classic style, just trying to combine the best of both worlds.
I added a white frame in between teleportation which pairs perfectly with the sounds, Thanks.
Our vision is that gradually more worlds will be released, perhaps each with something unique to them. The changes will be released on saturday together with a new classic world, with a bit of luck.
I can not overstate my gratitude, a big thanks goes out to You.
Maybe try making it “PlayersChoice”? Allows for more creativity for the players I suppose.
No worries. <3
I would also suggest remaking the thumbnail and icon a bit as it kind of looks bland to me. Maybe try changing the font and removing the noob character in the corner of the thumbnail? Maybe use GFX to make it look better?
Haha, it is a thing that I have considered with the last iteration, but our maximum daily visits were ∼60 visits. Maybe an in-game voting / suggestion system could work, but given nobody knows how the game will do, that option is currently off the table.
I will certainly try, it is difficult to make something that appeals to younger audiences (80% of the playerbase were mobile users back then), and to everyone else aswell. My horrid GFX skills are not helping either lol
The game is enjoyable, and I think with some tweaks it could easily become popular.
Please do change the transition, it shakes for me still so this may be fixed, but I would love to see some sort of loading screen or teleport transition. The shaking does make me quite nauseous!!
I like the map style, and I think the levels you currently have are good, however as you create more levels i’d maybe switch up the style to make it more difficult.
The levels are easy. Once you get used to the game I could find a button in less than 10 seconds, which isn’t great. Maybe change the button, make it smaller, or make it blend into the environment (keep the same shape but change colour maybe). I’d also recommend making the next stages a lot more difficult, having easy, medium, and hard stages will appeal to your audience.
Make the first level a tutorial. Outline what the button may look like and how to play the game. If someone is new to a find the button game they’ll have no idea what to do. I’d also make an arrow or some sort of guide so players actually know where to head in the lobby.
Here’s a few I asked it to make, and these can easily be improved by describing what you want in more detail.
Finally, don’t be scared to add some monetization! Stick an ad in the lobby, add a skip stage button, or improve the VIP gamepass and charge a little more. That’s how you’ll earn money from the game, don’t be scared to utilise that.
I appreciate your review, some of these changes I have already made and were planned to be released on saturday. i will do a bit of tweaking and release them in a few minutes.
I sadly do not have acces to immersive ads, as they have among others an age requirement. Would have implemented them straight away if I could.
