Hi everyone. (Not sure which category things belongs in, I figured that since I need thoughts on the UX it should go here; if this is the wrong place please let me know )
I’ve been saving up Robux to advertise my game and I’d like to hear some thoughts!
My game is an obby speedrunning game with leaderboards for each map.
I have a few questions, in specific regarding the gameplay, so I’d like to know:
Does the game give you a good first impression?
Is it confusing at first? (Lobby layout, UI, etc…)
Is it clear where to go & what you need to do once you join for the first time?
I’ve asked some of my friends, and even a few players in-game. Most of them said the game’s fine so I want to ask the devforums for some thoughts too.
The game’s great. Everything’s pretty clear to understand. I’m not sure I’d advertise though, you have a steady player base already. 18 active is really good in my opinion. It does depend on how much you have to advertise, if you have like 100k, it would be worth it; 5k or less, probably not.
For small playerbases like this you should focus on content creators and social media to hype up. Don’t worry to ask some of the bigger content creators, but make sure their content is similar to yours. Also for better effect give them something for their viewers to be excited for. More people will click on “the owner gave me …” than “checking out this new game”.
You should rethink this part of the description and try to include these words in creative sentences that both explain the game and make it easier to find. If you succeed it’ll come out in a better way, plus people that read this before they join will have more of an understanding!
This game is pretty cool! I’d recommend a few things though.
Remove the random gap in the floor between the spawn zone and the maps.
Make respawns as quick as possible – being funnelled back into the action as soon as you make a mistake makes each mistake feel less punishing and, for lack of a better word, “cheap.” If you fall for 4 seconds after missing a jump, you’re less likely to try again, versus if you fall and instantly respawn.
