First Mesh Model I've Made (And Post!)

Hi, I spent probably like 30-45 minutes total including rendering, what do you think of this simple pistol I designed? I went for a simple aesthetic and nothing too detailed because I’m pretty bad at modeling.

For this next one I messed with the lighting a bit because the barrel of the gun is hollow but it seems filled in. Didn’t work, but made the gun look lighter.

Made this last night and finally got my member rank so I’m able to share this with you! Let me know what you think and what you’d change if you could.

For a first ever mesh, it turned out fantastic! Love the aesthetic you added on the gun, really gives a nice vibe.

Suggestions:

  • .The gun doesn’t seem to have any curvature on the grip as a normal gun would have, making it look pretty fake.

  • The trigger guard doesn’t seem to have much curves.

  • Laslty, Add small details on the gun, like screws, tang, slides, etc.

Looks pretty good for a first model! It definently has a very nice looking low poly style. Some critiques I have for the model though are about the barrel of the gun and the model’s overall shape.

The barrel on your model is just a black cylinder which looks very unrealistic. What you can do is press E to extrude and liberally press the right mouse button to add an extra face and scald it down with S. From there extrude the face inward to make a hole in the cylinder.

The guns shape as stated by @its_hennn doesn’t have any curvature. Try rotating the handle/grip so the grip looks more natural. Also, if you want to go the extra mile you could add a magazine by extruding the bottom a little bit and scaling or beveling the edges down to make it look like a seperate part from the pistol.

Other than those issues I would say the model looks really good. Thank you for showing us your model and I welcome you to the roblox modeling community!

i will agree with you more work can be done to improve the gun model

The grip is actually tilted back at an angle, but I think the renders I got don’t show that off well. I’ll have to include the standard TOP SIDE FRONT views as well as the beautiful iso’s next time… I wanted to add all those small details but with the time I had and the experience I have I felt like less was more and anything I added would’ve just looked bad
