In this post, I hope to bring to you a HOT new game involving flamethrowers that will turn up the heat in Roblox’s gaming arena. A flamethrower game that will rule them all. I will be updating my progress here, from the simple beginnings to a full-fledged game. So join me, as we embark on this flaming hot journey of a lifetime.
Post #1: Getting the basic flamethrower mechanisms down
I first decided to make the flamethrower. From the above picture, you may just spot a few of the basic features I added to the flamethrower. Firstly, the flamethrower itself was designed to have a slick metallic body which would glimmer in the heat of the flame as you used it, beautiful. Then, there is that pose that the character has, all ready to burn anything in sight. (I don’t know about you, but I would stay away from him if he were next to me.)
Here’s how I move with the flamethrower:
Finally, we move on to the most important feature - the flames! With the flames of the flamethrower, I tried to make them as similar to the luminous ball of fire that we see in real life as possible while still giving it that cheery feeling that makes you want to touch it (Please don’t).
Here’s the flamethrower spitting out its flames:
Doesn’t it look like a majestic dragon breathing fire?
This is the end of the first post, hopefully it has sparked a burning passion in you for more.
I really like it!
So cool and I love flamethrowers in roblox!
One tip to improve it would be:
When the player activates the flamethrower, consider pushing the players arms back a tiny bit, to act as if there is pressure. And, when they stop using it, bring the players arms forward again.
Ooh! I like it quite a lot, those particles look very out of place though, it looks like particles for a flame extinguisher, I would really like to see and I think it’s worth to give it a try to put some camera shake whenever you use the Flamethrower. Instead of particles, try using a beam, with a beam you can deflect the fire since like most flamethrowers do, flamethrowers don’t shoot as straight beam of fire, this fire gets deflected depending of the distance, but if you rather stick to something like you have now, a 3d version of the particles would be super cool.
A camera shake would definitely bring out the heat and strength of the flamethrower, good idea! As for the flames, I do agree that there should be a sort of parabolic path for the flames to move, so your idea on beams sounds really interesting. I am just unable to visualise how the beam will look like though, I’ll look into it.
