Flashlight I made

This is the first time making anything. It has a funny backstory: My friend and I were experimenting with domes and I decided to make one out of a half arch. That failed miserably, so I thought maybe I’d make a cup, only to find it to be too thick. So I decided to make a flashlight. Flashlights are decently easy to make. This one is just built to be on, there’s no scripting involved. The red/green is an on off switch, just turned on by default. This probably would count as brick spam as it is around 450 parts. Please, tell me what I should improve on!

Won’t be a brick spam anymore if you turned it into a union, export it as an obj file and import it back as a mesh part.

To be honest, the flashlight has a bit too many edges. You should attempt reducing the number of edges you put, and make the light a little bigger so it can fit the flashlight better.

I could make it a cylinder. Most flashlights tend to have a lot of edges or are cylinders, but I will make the light a bit larger. Thanks for feedback!

450 parts for a single flashlight is extreme brick spam. And no, making it a mesh part will not fix the problem. It will still have too many triangles and cause lag.

I think you should use a cylinder for this

If I were to use jagged edges how could I prevent the aforementioned issues? Assuming cylinders was out of the picture.

Well, you could try using a mesh in that case but the impact would be minimal. I think the jagged edges is too much detail for something so small like a flash light

WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY too many parts for a simple flashlight. If I’m being frank here, it’s totally unnecessary, and does not cooperate well with your cylindrical light source, nor with the seemingly embedded toggle switch.

Quite frankly, it looks like you were messing around with a plugin and decided “Hey, I made something”.

The toggle switch looks off, and doesn’t belong (at least not in that style) and the light source itself is impractical. This would ultimately lag out everyone in the server if given to your average joe. I hate being harsh on the developer forum, but I just feel like if you want feedback on something, you kinda need to try a little harder than that.

If you’re aiming for jagged edges, I suggest using a couple cylinders grouped together to make a seemless grip for the flashlight. As for the light-source, I suggest you make it indented with glass in front. I would also take everyone’s advice on here and use a cylindrical base to hold the flashlight at.

Switches don’t look like that on flashlights. I would consider using a knob-switch instead.
