Flatten texture and render as icon?

I’m wondering how I can go about turning my tools into icons. As an example, look at the classic linked sword icon:

This looks like a flat rendering of the texture. Does anyone know how to do something like this, or a better/different way of getting the same result?

That’s not what I’m trying to do, i’m trying to make an actual image like the example I included.

Try publishing the mesh to Roblox with a thumbnail camera, then go to the item’s page, right click and select “Save Image As”. That’s what I do.
