Flood Gate Studios and I are looking for an answer from a GFX Artist’s perspective.
We were wondering (since our studio is currently at 0 robux and plans to stay that way until we start gaining tension on our next possible-front-page game) if anyone does GFX art for games for free. We know this is super risky that we’ll get bad work and we’re being really… dumb, for a lack of a better word. But we just think that maybe there’s someone out there that’s just doing it as a hobby.

If you want people to join your group because of your graphics this is a TERRIBLE decision. I don’t even do free stuff even if it looks terrible. Most GFX artists have clients and don’t have time to do free commissions for game icons.
This is true but some upcoming gfx artists just might need the credit and to test there art skills. If you hire a newcomer you wont get amazing quality but you will get something better than nothing and if you give them credit when there game makes front page it would really help the artist. However, some people will not take kindly to this because some GFX artist have tutions to pay and rental fees. So it really depends on who you hire, I do gfx but im not amazing, Some people are amazing but do it for 5-15k robux. It all depends. Hope this helps anyone considering this. I may do this my self. The only thing being, at the moment, we’re planning on being a non-profit organization. I kind of expected at least a few of these replies, so thanks for just telling me the truth and not sugar-coding anything.
I also think that @EternalCanadianDev is correct with his prediction that upcoming artists may take this offer.
