How to host Class
Step 1 (optional): Reserve time with event booker at least 1 day in advance.
Step 1.5: If you don’t book, post on group wall when starting.
Step 2: Arrive in the studio 5-10 minutes early. Set event type to Class and chose your helpers/cohosts if any. Set music preferences. DO NOT lock the door!
Step 3: Use message command to notify online students. Tell them what genre you will teach. Spend 5 minutes directing them to the changeroom.
Step 4: Start with a warm up
Step 5: Small class actives. Ideas; center combos, across the floor, circle combos, learn a small routine, learn a ballet variation, teach a specific skill, make up dances etc. Class should last an hour or less.
Step 6: Levels. Students line up. One level per student. Please try to level everyone (except for dancers who didn’t participate or joined 5 minutes before you finished).
Step 7 (optional): Play a minigame. This will add an additional 15-20 minutes to your class runtime so plan for more than an hour of time if you want to do this.

- If you do not pass, be a good sport, support others, practice and try again.
- If this is your first exam do not expect to pass.
Step 5: Complete 3-4 short combos. Judge students on accuracy, timing and attention.
Step 6 (NEW INFO) : Give TWO Levels to 50% of the group still within the exam room. In case of numbers that cannot be divided into 50%, round up to nearest number.

Look up and anyone who is in that corner will be teamed back to dancers. They can continue to play but will not be frozen and are not in the round.
Step 6: Repeat until one dancer remains (or you get bored). Remaining dancers are the winners. If all dancers go out, you are the winner, congrats!

NEW RULES!!!
Step 1 (optional but recommended): Book in advance in the bulletin.
Step 2: Post on group wall before the competition.
Step 3: Use the message command to notify students.
Step 4: Set stage to Competition, pick cohosts and lock the lighting.
Step 5: Set competition manager to “accepting competitors”
Step 6: Give players 5 minutes to arrive and sign in with the competition manager system.
Step 7: Use the competition manager to start comp.
Step 8: Bring players on stage as specified by the competition manager.
Step 9: Skip players who are not in server.
Step 10: Watch players dance then have all judges vote using panels on the table. If you have less than 4 judges one judge should vote twice. DO NOT leave empty panels! Use them all to have fair averages! Click score. Only staff can vote! Do not allow pro dancers, elites or any other rank to vote!
Step 11: Repeat until all dancers have performed.
Step 12: Press end comp. Look at scores. Note that 10s will show next to 1s so be sure to scroll through the whole list.
Step 13: DIVIDE the competition by those who have maxed their levels (staff, pros, some elites), and those who have not. Award a 1st, 2nd and 3rd to students who have maxed, then award 1st, 2nd, 3rd to players who have not maxed their levels. Bring winners on stage and award 1 level for third, 2 levels for second and 3 levels for first to the group that hasn’t maxed. Do not pit maxed players against those still earning levels.
Step 14: Press clear comp, unlock the lights and if there is still time in your event config, end the event.
How to host Improv Comp
Step 1: Book on the bulletin (optional)
Step 2: Post on the group wall that the event is starting
Step 3: Use the message command to notify students
Step 4: Put everyone on stage and lock the stage
Step 5: Pick a song everyone can dance to and put it on repeat
Step 6: Use the countdown command (another staff can help you) to give each player 30 seconds of performance time.
Step 7: Keep track of how well each person did. Mimi suggests writing names down on paper and moving people up and down the list as you watch. Put the first name near the centre of the page so you can add more above or below. Keep track of the best performances and compare each next dancer to the last “best” dancer.
Step 8: Award first place to one maxed member (staff, pros and some elites) and first place to one not maxed dancer. You do not need to award 2nd or 3rd because it is difficult to keep track of more than one top dancer. If it makes it easier, split the group into maxed and unmaxed at the start of the competition (put half on each side of the stage) and keep two separate lists.
Step 9: Award three levels to the unmaxed winner.
How to host Dance Battles
You can book this event type in advance if you want but these are great to host on the fly too.
Regular Dance Battle:
Step 1: Use class config to start a dance battle at the arena. Lock the stage.
Step 2: Randomly select two participants. Try to be unbiased with this, just pick a name that stands out or make them be the first to answer a question.
Step 3: Teleport each player on stage. Staff can access the stage by following the arrows to the sides of the stage.
Step 4: Put on a countdown of 30-90 seconds and play music. Let the players dance.
Step 5: When time is up, press “Start Voting” so the audience can pick the winner.
Step 6: Repeat with new dancers
Tournament:
Step 1: Plan tournaments ahead of time, perhaps by auditioning dancers. 8-12 dancers works well.
Step 2: Pair each dancer up ahead of time. Look online for tournament tree examples.
Step 3: Similar steps as above but with each member of the tournament.
Step 4: Winners will go on to battle other winners.
Step 5: Repeat until only two remain.
Step 6: Whoever wins the last battle is the ultimate champion.
Championship:
Step 1: Similar to the standard dance battle
Step 2: Ask the audience who wants to challenge the winner of the previous battle
Step 3: Each round the winner stays on stage and a new challenger is invited up
Step 4: Continue until you want to proclaim someone the ultimate champion or until no one can beat the winner
Note: Voting is recommended but dance battles can also be done by staff judging, without voting.
