Follow icon higher priority than friends?

Assuming this is the icon for someone you follow, I don’t think it should be a higher priority than the icon for someone on your friends list. If you both follow and are friends with them, the icon for being friends should pop up.

NOTE: If you happen to add them in-game after following them, the friend icon takes priority.

My guess is bragging rights, or something to show ingame that you have paid money? Not sure, just making a guess.
