"Frame Delay" Effect?

so i’ve been interested in the n64 zelda games because of their creepy aspects and whatnot, but something that’s caught my attention is the certain (im not really sure what it’s called exactly) “frame delay” effect that’s seen in some cutscenes of majora’s mask;

most notably the zelda flashback that occurs after you retrieve your ocarina

my question however, is; is it possible to recreate this kind of effect? if so, how would i be able to achieve it? i thank any of you in advance, who take the time out of your day to help out!

I think thats was just the games FPS. But you can clone the char but make it transparent when the player hits is confirmed endpoint the clones get destoryed

i think using viewport frames would be possible
