Frame drops only in studio

As the title says, the issue only happens in studio and not while just playing a roblox game.

Click this for an example.

If I just make any mouse movements while in studio the fps will drop down to around one or so and it isn’t actually just limited to when I am testing or in the window for building. Like if I were to move my mouse around in the Explorer the selection boxes that appear around the item tree would actually lag as well.

I have tried lowering my rendering quality and updating my graphics driver, but it hasn’t seemed to make a difference.

Additional Information:
OS: Windows 10(Version 1607, Build 14393.693)
CPU: AMD FX-8320 Eight-Core Processor
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660
Memory: 16384MB RAM

I am not sure when the issue could have started happening as I didn’t use studio for a few days, but it started happening yesterday when I opened studio. It happens on any studio place, even blank, and happens every single time I open studio.

Anyone else having or had this issue?

Welcome to the forum!

I think it would be helpful for staff to add to your post:

  • Additional version information about your OS
  • When did the bug start happening?

edit: it was added

Can you ensure you have all plugins disabled and see if that changes anything?

I disabled all my plugins and it doesn’t seem to have an effect.

Ok, I haven’t been able to be on my computer as much recently, but I just now realized that the problem isn’t actually isolated to roblox studio. Happens with some other programs like chrome. I will do some research and see if I can find a fix.

Edit: It seems like it is related to a windows update and actually having the window not selected makes it so moving the mouse doesn’t cause lag

I know what the problem is now. So basically it was a windows update for an nvidia driver. If you leave the update there, even if you try installing old drivers, that new one stays. I found the steps to resolve the issue in a forum post.

Just in case someone needs it here is what I did:

-Downloaded wushowhide.diagcab, DDU, and the old Nvidia driver
-Disconnected from the network
-Rebooted into safe mode and did a cleanup with DDU
-Rebooted again and installed the old driver
-Reconnected to the network and ran wushowhide.diagcab and hid the windows nvidia driver update

I also went to Control Panel > System > Advanced System Settings > Hardware and clicked No in Device Installation Settings so I wouldn’t get the issue again(not sure if you really need to do this).
