Take it or leave it.
This is sort of a side project and since it’s designed quite well already, I’m probably not going to update this unless there’s a very requested feature or a major bug.
I present a free tool grip editor:
I decided to make this not just for myself, but also for everyone who doesn’t want to buy one of the more advanced tools out there. Keep in mind that this plugin is about 50 lines of code long, but it’s easy to use:
To use:
-
Parent tool to rig of your choice (R15/R6)
-
Rotate or move the tool’s handle in your desired position. It can be anchored during this process if it keeps reverting.
-
After changing the tool’s rotation and position, select the rig and click “Apply Grip” in either the toolbar button or using the quick access button.
-
If anything goes wrong, you can always undo.
This can be done in bulk with as many models as you want as long as they’re selected, and they have a tool.
You can also bind a keyboard shortcut for applying tool grips. It is also accessible in the quick access menu.
RightGripAttachment is required for this plugin to work. If it’s not there, then you can always create it yourself. This plugin relies on positional values from RightGripAttachment, and it doesn’t care about any rotational values. If you’re expereincing issues, try recreating your rig.

- No.
- I’d rather used the paid alternative.
- I already have the paid alternative, but I would recommend this to people who do not have it.
- I do not have a use case for this resource.
