[Full Release] Use Assistant to Boost Your Productivity

It needs to stop coming up with services like ‘DoorService’ or doing some stuff like Script.Parent.Parent.Parent.Parent.Parent.Parent.Parent and instead use proper directories.

Obfuscating code is against TOS if you publish it anywhere.

I should be using AI to boost my productivity? NO THANKS!

There is one thing I hate about AI and that is the two letters being shoved down my throat over and over again to the point where I would rather shut off my computer and never turn it back on. It isn’t making me want to use AI any further and it makes me never want to use it. I had been on Roblox for 8 years and I can literally do things the “Assistant” can do but on my own.

The claims of Assistant boosting how often people publish an experience is completely bogus.

This statistic isn’t actually because of the Assistant.

Instead, it is the fact that more and more people are publishing experiences onto the platform and more and more of us often publish multiple test places for another experience. Combine that with the Assistant just being in the background with no true way to disable it makes the statistic almost meaningless.

Anybody with two brain cells can realize that. It isn’t complete rocket science whenever Roblox says a metric without showing evidence to confirm it.

The Assistant truly can’t do things better than people specialized in Building, Scripting, etc.

You shouldn’t depend on it to code everything in your experience. If you try designing everything yourself, you can even make things better than what an AI can make. Also, should I point out that the Assistant is based off a possibly older version of ChatGPT?

Congratulations Assistant, you made it so a tree can rotate 90 degrees in a certain direction when a player touches the tree.

I am being sarcastic because it isn’t something to write home about. Yes, we could modify scripts the Assistant gives us but at that point, shouldn’t we just manually create the code?

…or we can just use the toolbox, search for a swimming pool model and manually insert it into our experience? The toolbox has literally been a thing since Roblox first came out. Besides, I find that using the toolbox and searching for a model you want to insert is faster compared to typing out a prompt, waiting for an AI to show 6 random free models from the toolbox that matches your query and then choosing from one of those 6 free models.

AI should NOT be used as a replacement to our productivity.

Productivity is basically the state or quality of being productive and being productive is having the quality or power to produce things in abundance.

While Assistant can do things in mass, it is still restricted to what it has already been coded to learn. It can’t really create anything original and it has no sense of originality in the slightest.

If you support the idea of being replaced by AI on this platform, you are either too lazy to create anything for yourself or you are THE developer that is meant to be replaced by it.

this is killing roblox developers creativity. that AI doesn’t even help you. the AI can’t write scripts even normally.

then name variables something random so the ai wouldnt consider it

People specialized in fields are the one’s complaining the most - it’s not just for you - but the less experienced - who are thankful.

Not even those still learning the ropes use “every” code from Ai.

Yes - we understand the time it took programmers to learn coding - and you feel threatened by Ai… but if not - then there’s nothing to complain about - programmers are not forced to use it.
But as you might have noticed - there’s builders, modelers, G/UI artists etc… who DON’T script - and it’s US that use Ai when needed.

All we can say is Thank You Roblox - we appreciate your efforts. :+1:

It’s levying a visible tax on my eyes every second the tab is on my screen. I want the ability to disable it.

Oh no, a rectangle taking up 1/400th of the screen. So taxing on my eyes.

Truly, this is such an odd nit-pick from the many people here

Straight up unusable, Roblox…

This is a feature that can definitely help some get the hang of scripting but in the short tests I’ve done with it, some answers are straight-up gibberish with non-existing Instances and functions. This is exactly the reason I am against any form of AI.

Not gonna lie that method does seem good I wish Kick was to be revamped to be like the new Ban system.

I hold the opposite opinion. Beginners aren’t actually going to learn and get better unless they do the work themselves. AI becomes useful when you already know what to do but you know the AI can do it faster, and so you give the task to it; hence speeding up your workflow. This is different when compared to other automation tools because you don’t have to write the automation yourself; only say what you want to happen briefly.

I know AI in general and right now specifically Roblox AI doesn’t always produce sensible results. It needs more data for it to be better. If you don’t want AI automation then don’t use it or be part of the training, else do so. Everyone complaining that it sucks and then saying they won’t support it is puzzling to me. Rome wasn’t built in a day.

You are expecting too much of AI.

It is supposed to be used for simple things, you shouldn’t try to make anything complex with AI although it can show you where to start.

We humans aren’t much better than AI either, cuz we also make mistakes and a lot of the time the code we write doesn’t work on the first try.

Also, if it isn’t useful for you that’s fine, just don’t use it, but it can be useful for someone else, nobody knows everything I bet not even you.

Somebody may not know how to do that, even if you believe is so simple. And this particular example isn’t that intuitive to do in fact, nobody automatically knows CFrames and geometry math after opening studio.

You are implying you would only use AI to do things you already know how to do. Think outside the box.

Still, if the task is simple it may give you an answer that doesn’t need to be modified, so it would be useful and quicker. Many people use it mainly for repetitive and boring tasks.

No, it is a tool to boost our productivity, not a replacement, nobody said that.

Naw way
Imagine it was possible to use greyboxing in-game to generate assets too

Here’s a use case you could explore:

  • Select a sound and ask “Find looping points for this song.”

This is a good step for script changes, I would trust the AI more if this was extended to datamodel changes as well. I share the same sentiment as @PeZsmistic.

I believe the more control the developer has over assistant the better, but a large task “review” of the AI-generated code should be summarized to mitigate information overload so devs can review faster. My suggestion for a datamodel review is a dropdown which categorizes the assistance’s modifications. Here’s a quick mockup to help visualize this:

7 instance modifications
1 BasePart MyTreeLeaves

.Color

6 BaseParts MyPart <- (combined 6 for equal name and properties)

.Position
.Size

Developers could then toggle certain elements to reject minor mistakes, or reject the whole task altogether at their discretion.

That’s misinformation, the chat model is a proprietary chat model with no link with OpenAI and is entirely trained using Roblox collected data and runs on Roblox’s own servers.

WARNING MAJOR ISSUE
I asked the assistant in studio a general question about TextChatProperties instance and when it responded it overwrote one of my key scripts and i didn’t notice right away and couldn’t undo it and had to go into version history, find an earlier version of my project and copy paste the script back.

Please ensure that assistant can’t overwrite scripts unless specifically asked to

There will eventually be nothing left to innovate once we create AGI at scale. We are making ourselves obsolete.
